Shared timer means there's trade off to using these moves--players have to consider the situation and make choices instead of just cycle through all jumps to WS faster. That's not a bad thing, in my book.

Useful in exp? No, not especially. Useful anywhere? I think so. In a small to medium group where losing a healer or DD (physical or magical damage) would be crippling, the new jumps would be welcomed; enmity suppression can be very useful just before a big burst of damage (*cough* SC+MB *cough*).

And, try this: Zerg style play, one PLD (probably in the mage party), Banish > Invincible. DRG follows up with the Spirit Jump. DDs unload, but the monster stays on the PLD. 30 seconds later, Invincible wears off, PLD uses Sentinel > Flash. DRG fires off Soul Jump, and DDs continue to get off WS after WS without getting beat up (except by AoE).

When SE changed DRG's SP, the company unequivocally stated that the developers had never considered DRG to be a weak job, implying that changing the two hour ability was done to address the player base's perception rather than any design or implementation problem.

I've a feeling that SE again thinks DRG is largely fine as it is at Lv.80, so no need for big changes when at Lv.85. Can't say I disagree.

I'm seeing more and more jobs with Skillchain Bonus and Magic Burst Bonus; SE seems to be enticing us with better SC+MB damages as a response to complaints that SC+MB are no longer worthwhile.

Which would make more sense if not for the growing prominence of Abyssea, which is focused on zerging. Players wanted to zerg and SE gave them first lolibri, and then Abyssea; but having done that, it's going to be hard to reverse the trend and go back to groups that try to control their enmity and coordinate attacks through SC, even if SE wants to do so.

Ton of awesome looking spells -- I *really* hope they tone down the cost of scrolls and dice compared to the last update, otherwise I am about to be bankrupt even before I look at the first piece of new equipment. At least the (non-COR) JAs are free.

Personally, I'm interested in the Foe Lullaby II and new ability. Mage's Ballad III also does something for me, but wasn't entirely unexpected, and I would expect it would give 3 mp/tick. I can also see a Mage's Ballad IV (4mp/tick) which, combined, would do the same as Refresh II (thus predicting 7mp/tick), just like Ballad I and II do for Refresh. Soul Voice now looks VERY nice to healers/mages with heavy MP draws, and with Ballad III and IV could max out at a very seksi 22mp/tick with Gjallarhorn (14 without).

As far as the new Bard ability... I'm actually struggling with when it would be used. As a bard, I don't melee or really do much of anything except pull... So, there's no need as far as I can see that would require me to keep a song on myself.

And shared jump timers are ass. It wasn't SO bad with Jump, but High Jump already knocks off half your enmity... so why the hell even bother with this new one? $10 says December update brings yet another stupid jump that will share a timer with Super Jump... orz.

Also, current theory on Addle is it could be magic defense down, which would be insane.

Um, I didn't really mean in exp settings, though it may come into play in smaller groups. I recently did lots of Kirin runs with my Sky LS, and one Kirin run with my social LS. Most people in Sky bring DD jobs to everything, including Kirin. Therefore, even with superior numbers, the Sky LS can't field a zerg team. The social LS didn't have the number/jobs/equipment for zerging either.

So, which LS would you think had the easier times with Kirin? The Sky LS with more members, more experience, and many recent practices with Kirin, or the smaller social LS with its first (and probably last) Kirin, bringing some members who had never even seen Kirin before?

The social LS, of course; SC+MB made short work of the summoned Shijin, and people unselfishly brought whatever jobs which was the best suited. We carefully went over the strategy before popping, too, and even managed a few SC+MB on Kirin itself.

In contrast, the Sky LS has a habit of nearly wiping multiple times per pop with so many DDs feeding TP to Seiryu and Byakko and people not paying attention to Seiryu's SP and break bind, or over nuke when Byakko SP'ed. Not to mention never enough healers to paralyna and cure. Rarely did we bring support role jobs like BRD to properly utilize the DDs. (Heck, I WANT to bring BRD, but then we'd be short on PLD or RDM... )

Anyway, the point is, for a small to medium group that's prong to cooperation and coordination, SE is rewarding their effort with even better SC+MB damage. For the chaotic larger groups unable to sort themselves out... Well, they will continue to suck, and SE doesn't really care--not even if they whine about DDs not getting more 'useful' JA/traits for their dumb melee rushes.

Scrolls will drop from chests still, and eventually the supply will catch up with the demand on AH. I'm not buying Protect V until the price go down... Oh wait, just checked FFXIAH after I wrote the last sentence--it's 20k now. lol. I guess I have to go buy it now.

Well, I know that I need SS/Blink up at times so I'll need MP regen at some point. I hate putting up ballad, getting one or two ticks, and then having to buff melees and losing it. It will help with that I guess.

Re: Job Adjustments Part I (08/27/2010)

So White Mages are getting a JA that does exactly what Barspells already do but usable only once a minute and only on a single target, Cura II which is probably just going to be a slightly more expensive way of waking a party from sleepga and some sort of buff to MND and VIT? Oh wait there's extra Shield Defence...Utterly pointless since if I'm going to be soloing things I'm going to be WHM/NIN. The only things that sheids are good for in a party situation are for the stat bonuses but if you're main healing without at least a Light Staff you shouldn't be main healing anyway.

                    RDM is getting Refresh II

SCH is being given yet another ability from WHM who makes the WHM version pointless due to Accession.

I think I might just stick to the FFXIV Beta because it's clear that Squeenix just wants to kill off the White Mage.

Re: Job Adjustments Part I (08/27/2010)

I came into this thread and got halfway through the first page when I was seriously annoyed with YM. Dude, you don't even have a RDM at endgame, how the fuck are you bitching about being busy on it? Do you even have Refresh yet to know how the cycles even work?

And did you honestly expect that one of the spells that made RDM unique (Refresh) wouldn't get an upgrade to keep RDMs different than every other fucking mage job out there that can now also use Refresh on themselves? Because let's be honest, RDM is invited for Refresh. All else comes secondary.

And did you think Refresh v1 was going to cut it at higher levels? With the increased MP costs of all spells and frequency at which people are casting? I would have preferred, as a very "anal retentive" type, that they didn't even allow others to use Refresh subbed, because I hate when other people step on my toes as RDM. With Refresh II, though, which I assume will overwrite Refresh, the only possible good about other jobs being able to sub RDM and get Refresh is that if I happen to be a few seconds late because of a quick dispel or cure throwing off my time, they can cast their own shit and quit bitching about me being late with their goddamn buff. (And don't give me "good RDMs are never late," it's bullshit, you know that mobs buff themselves whenever they damn well please, you know adds show up, you know people get SMACKED hard, etc., and sometimes, that happens right in the middle of your cycle)

Seriously, though, why the fuck are you complaining? You don't even have a job at cap. It doesn't even really affect you. While I think it's okay to comment on other jobs you don't have or haven't leveled to some extent, all I see is you complaining and moaning about how RDM is when you haven't even had the chance to play it at endgame - or even see it at endgame considering you've not even been there yourself. And what's more annoying is your "high and mighty" attitude like you know it all, when you seriously just don't. I don't play anymore, but I know more about RDM than you do, and yes, I played it at endgame and I know how it works, and RDM is a busy job. Will always be a busy job. HELLO, that's the appeal of the job! I liked it because I didn't just sit there idle like a MNK and whack away at things.

Of course this post is probably lost on you since you're so stuck up that you have me on ignore, probably because you know I'm right and it pisses you off. Cry me a river.

On Sylph it's only now down to 90k. Until yesterday it was going for more than the NPC price. Stone V has actually increased to 150k, when the NPC is 123K, in Windurst (S), which is the easiest city to reach in WotG, whether you're with another nation, or a level 1 mule.

On the other hand, I'm waiting for the update before I pick up my Teleport-Vahzl scroll. That should make me some nice gil about a week or two after the update.

EDIT: but not as much as the guy who just sold two on Sylph... someone put in one two many zeros and bought one for 2.1 million.

If you want to be less busy, the hell are you gonna be doing the rest of the time? In xp situations, you enfeeble the mob during your cycle, and if its still alive after that you're waiting to buff people some more. In lowman or endgame or pretty much anything else you do with friends its the same thing. RDM needed this cause at the same level, SCH gets to Accession Refreshga with more charges available to it that recharge more quickly, and once the cap goes higher they will have access to Haste from the same sub and what niche aside from enfeebling and soloing/duoing high level things will RDM have then? And the enfeebling thing isn't even needed much in a good Abyssea party, I throw a Dia2 or Dia3 on it and it's dead soon, a SCH/RDM could do the same thing.

Frankly you're just crying and bitching for no other reason than to cry and bitch. Know what's gonna change in my cycle now? Rather than casting Refresh and Haste on myself before canceling Composure, then buffing everyone else with Haste and Refresh(where applicable), I will now cast Refresh2 and Haste on myself before canceling Composure, then buffing everyone else with Haste and Refresh2(where applicable). Wait a second...OMG ITS THE SAME THING I DO NOW BUT A DIFFERENT SPELL, BUT I HATE CHANGE NOOOOO. Only thing that'll change is if they mess with the duration, which can only be a godsend if they bump it up to the same duration as Haste cause that oversimplifies any rotation.

RDM needed a bone since they pretty much killed RDM and NIN/DRK tanking, if you expected them to get the shaft forever you're mistaken. That's what NIN is for.

Lol. I've considered starting over but the game is in such late stages and XIV is so soon ... I wouldn't really get anywhere before everyone migrates to XIV. I also thought about starting WoW again but meh. Maybe if I can find my GameCube controller I can amuse myself playing solo games. XD
