        Useful in exp? No, not especially. Useful anywhere? I think so.         When SE changed DRG's SP, the company unequivocally stated that the developers had never considered DRG to be a weak job, implying that changing the two hour ability was done to address the player base's perception rather than any design or implementation problem.

        I've a feeling that SE again thinks DRG is largely fine as it is at Lv.80, so no need for big changes when at Lv.85. Can't say I disagree.
        I'm not a Drg myself, all I know is that my friends who are Drgs complain they get nothing but useless abilities nowadays. None of them use Spirit Jump since regular Jump is still better. More ways to boost it's damage and reduce it's recasts, so those who have builds for it get more out of it. Unlike Spirit Jump...which can't be boosted at all. Why use one when the other is always more useful? (p.s. in zerg fights, the mob should be dead too fast to worry about hate).

        All I know is, as someone who also feels as though they've gotten useless updates to their jobs (War and Thf) I can understand how they feel. As a Thf especially, Despoil is literally useless. A 5 minute timer for a random 90 second enfeeble other jobs should already be dropping on a mob is retarded. Especially when you have a very powerful form of Dispel (Aura Steal can dispel things no other Dispel can dispel) that can also act as a powerful self buff. But even that's on far too long of a timer. Feint is a great ability since it can be used once every 2 minutes. Despite having a short duration, it's reuse time is low enough that it will see constant use. Collaborator is a great ability since it's 1 minute recast means you can more or less use it once a fight, which makes it much better then Accomplice in far more situations.

        But Steal, Mug, and now Despoil, they're practically useless the majority of the time since you'll be waiting on recasts more then you'll be using them. For a one shot ability that can miss, and one that even if it does land can often have a minor (or no) effect at all, their recasts are just too much. And to make two of them share the same recast is just dumb.

        Add in giving Thfs a natural DW...which is nice in theory...it's useless in practice since Thfs don't just sub Nin for DW, they do it for Shadows. Other jobs can get by with /Sam and still survive, Thf don't have that option. Dnc and Blu can heal themselves and gain Buffs from other sources...but Thf don't have that option.

        Combine that with the final nail in the coffin, the fact that SE thinks giving Thfs TH3 will be a big deal and will make them happy, and it's just not looking good for my favorite light melee class. TH3 is a trait that makes everyone but the Thf happy. Rdms complain because they feel they're only invited for Refresh, but at least that one reason to invite them makes them useful during the actual fight. Thfs getting invites for TH mean they're only useful for 10 seconds right before them mob dies.

          Spirit Jump Has a 50% TP mod on it meaning they get 1.5 times more using it. So it is situational and is better in some regards.

          More than likely the merits (if there are) at 99 will contain similar things to 75 merits like New jump recasts. Once again they share a timer because with STP you can near 100TP simply by using 4 jumps, thant means any competant DRG will be able to WS 3 times in a row. (4 with a wing).

            But so can Sam, so can Drk (absorb TP depending) and I don't know about other jobs.

            Somewhat of a moot point anyways as in my last Abyssea party I was getting 23 tp/swing thanks to Samurai Roll and occasionally winding up with 71% TP after a WS for some funky unknown reason. And no, Sekkanoki was not used when those happened.

            I myself like Spirit Jump quite well due to the TP it returns. The only thing I don't like about it is that you cannot merit the reuse timer down.

            The only thing this update does to my Drg is that I won't be meriting the abilities until I see what all the abilities are up to lvl 99. I may not be meriting some things, like Jump, if I like the alternative better.

              SE already stated @ vanafest the 99 merits will be a new system separate from current merits, possibly even with new points so merit away (though there could be ties with certain merits for jobs, which is why i'm holding back SMN - I wanna see what the level 90+ pacts are like until I go anywhere near my avatar attack/acc etc)

              And any DRG who uses high jump just for TP gain is retarded, as is this new ability. I'm not sacrificing -50% enmity instantly for a little extra TP and to "suppress enmity" >_>

              Why suppress further enmity gain when I can just cut my current hate level in half?

                I can do that on PUP/DNC with a little bit of work.... more commonly I let my puppet fire off 2 in a row. Both me and my puppet build to 100% TP+, Fire -> Tactical Switch -> Fire -> Reverse Flourish can get me seriously close to firing a 3rd one.

                    No the top 1% i divided further, .1% of them are complete jackasses,.2% try to be jackasses to suckle at the teet of the jackass, .1% Keep to themselves and/or a small group of friends, .5% are everyday people who know where to find knowledge answers etc, they also know how to play their jobs at all areas/levels of play. The rest of the 99% are the people who beg for gil, or don't know how/where to look things up, or how to ask. These are usually the people who think there is only one way to do something because they only know one way to do something, usually they also don't know what that way is.

                          You get double shot at 79. 3 minute cooldown. 90 seconds active. Some of your shots will use two pieces of ammo for double damage. But I didn't see anything for RNG's in this update for 81-85.

                            Doesn't stack with WS either.

                            You also get True Shot, gives you about a 5% damage increase when shooting from the sweetspot.

                              ISTM that they should just make Jump merits and gear affect Spirit Jump, and High Jump merits and gear affect the new jump. If they share recasts, then you can only use one at a time, so you're not actually getting a double bonus.

                              As for THF, I would give them two new traits: critical rate bonus and critical damage bonus. (The latter would, of course, also affect their JA-based crits.) Another level of Triple Attack (i.e. higher activation rate) might be fun, too.
