Well, they said they are adjusting the trials in this update so hopefully they've realized that the Empyreans are just as if not more bullshit than even Mythics. And this is just for the base weapon!

Problem is the DPS is rather low for the TP return and you're feeding the mob a lot of TP...
LOL 2004 called they wan't their gripe back....

      Seriously.....

Assuming BST/DNC that extra TP you get not only allows for extra WS's it also allows for healing, if (big if) that extra 12 TP you gave to the monster is even having effect.

Oh but wait a minute, DW axes, (now because I do not know the axes he is using I am just going to use the average axe delay of 288) with /DNC you get DW2 for 15% delay reduction assuming a suppa is 20%.

      288*2*.80 = 460/60 = 7.6 second delay vs
      288/60 = 4.8

      460/2 = 230

      Dual
      5.0 + [(230 - 180) * 6.5 / 270] 6.2 TP/hit

      Single
      5.0 + [(288 - 180) * 6.5 / 270] 7.6 TP/hit

So now comes me being generous, and giving the OTT a 50/30/20 spread (as in 50% of the time its 2, 30 is three, the remaining 20 is a single)

So in 1 minute lets see how often the weapons attack

      DW(non OTT)
      60/7.6 = 7.89 (7) rounds of attack @ 95% ACC this equals 7*2*.95 = 13.3 (13) hits for
13*6.2+13*3 = 119.6 TP fed to the mob

      SW
      60/4.8 = 12.5 attack rounds @ 95% = 12*.95 = 11.4 (11) for
      11*7.6+11*3 = 116.6 TP

      DW(OTT)
      7*.8 = 5.6 (5 rounds of more than 2 attacks)
      5*.5 = 2.5 (2 rounds of 3)
      5*.3 = 1.5 (1 round of 4)
      2-4 rounds of 2

      for a total of 20 attacks @ 95% = 19
      19*6.2+19*3 = 174.8TP

      174TP - 119TP = 55 TP VS DW without OTT
      174TP - 116TP = 58 TP VS SW.

      However

      19*6.2 = 117 TP
      13*6.2 = 80 TP
      11*7.6 = 83 TP

In conclusion while yes you do feed the mob a bit more TP (not even enough to have it WS one extra time over a minute) you also gain a WS every minute, by a healthy margin. Basically TP feeding is shit and is an argument used by people who don't know better or don't understand how things actually work.

Is it just me, or does this announcement imply armor trials will only be for new armor, not for abj, sky, relic, AF+1, Limbus, Salvage, or Nyzul armors? That would kind of suck. Bad enough that they made all pre-TotM weapons except relics and mythics junk, but to do the same to armor too?

I imagine they're keeping existing gear on hold until next update. And aside, considering that the armor to be augmented from this update pretty much amounts to AF3, then . . .

That's exactly what they're implying. I still need some of that gear and I'm already pissed off.

I'm 14/15 on nyzul armors (haven't bothered to get d.feet since my static broke), and I've already replaced some of them with pieces that any dumbass can buy after 1 decent abyssea party, after only 1 patch of level increase. Not saying that you can't be carried through nyzul to some extent (although I don't think I was, but you would have to ask the rest of my static I guess), but the idea of an effort:reward ratio is seriously undermined by higher level, but very easy to get, stuff having such killer stats.

If TotM actually worked on those items, then people would still have some reason to do old content to get the base forms so they could trial them into something wearable in the 90s.

On the other hand, if they're planning to have only one upgrade per piece with upgraded versions to be level 91-99, then they couldn't introduce them this update anyway, because you'd just be upgrading to something you can't wear. So maybe this isn't such a big deal yet.

If AF3 is going to come from trials, I wonder if they're going to give it branching upgrade paths... that could be interesting.

P.S. If nyzul sets aren't getting upgrades, SE could at least make them storeable. Otherwise I'm likely going to have to outright throw them away at some point to make room for something cheap and easy to get but with better stats, and that would make me sad. At least they're not a mix of upgraded and un-upgraded pieces like my af and relic sets...
