Re: New Version Update Announcement! (08/11/2010)
You mean you want to wait until each and every expansion is completely done and over with before it is released, thereby leaving you with a year or two's wait before you can experience new content?
Personally, I have no problem admitting that I definitely got my money's worth from WotG. The only disadvantage to WotG is that it means the next expansion (if there will even be a next expansion) is a long time off, but that has been somewhat alleviated by the mini-expansions along the way.
Together, the 3 Abysseas will add up to the cost of about 1 expansions. They're glorified cragless versions of the old zones with mostly recycled mobs, plenty of NMs to camp to keep you busy for the next few months, and a new way to gain EXP that is a plus to leveling rate, but ultimately something that will fast become useless once you're capped on your jobs. The fast paced nature of Abyssea EXP (excuse me, good Abyssea EXP) only works you out of an event that much faster.
Did you get any new jobs? Any engaging storyline? Something that you can just log on and do at your own leisure? How about paying 30 dollars to get only 3 new zones through WotG? Cause it looks like you're about to pay 30 dollars for 9 old zones, no new jobs, no long and involved missions, and something that you are locked out of if you don't have them Traverser Stones which only comes around about once a day for most people right now.
I'll cut you off right now though: "Oh, but you don't know if they will add any unique zones in later Abyssea releases. For all you know, the storyline might get deeper. It has only just been released after all. Who knows? Maybe they will add more unique ways to get EXP that aren't just engaging the mob and killing it as fast as possible, and maybe they will make it so you get Traverser Stones every 5 hours in a future update."
To which I will throw back at all of you: Speculation is speculation.
