I guess heavy endurance main healing, and high profile solos must be part of the what S-E "intended," because absolutely none of that was affected.

Honestly, Malacite, you have Maat's Cap. That may not be what it once was, but you had to level what, 15 different jobs to 66+? That's not a small time commitment. Not everything in MMOs happens overnight. Personally, I think the giant bullshit trials of FFXI should be group affairs, where everyone works toward improving everyone else, such as by getting bonus stats for a link pearl or something, but that's not the case. FFXI does have giant timesinks, and you're an absolute moron if you think you can go on playing it without it taking a significant chunk of your time.

Thats a cool idea. start a ls picking 1 trait and slowing having that build up as members increase as well as having little quest's to tack on other small traits. see this one guy with no gear carring around like 20 some odd shells so he can have +3 str in one and +3% hp in another.

It's not an original idea at all, I've seen at least three korean MMOs that do it. Typically it's like a "Give us tons of gold and you can have more people" thing, but for FFXI stat benefits would make more sense. The idea wouldn't be tocarry around more shells though, but to have shells which can get powerful through community building. Doing quests with your LS mates to improve the LS for everyone in it. And obviously only the shell you have equipped would matter. Only problem with it could be solved by having an 'equipped' LS and a 'chat' LS; so that people don't feel like they have to wear their Asshole-Endgame-Pearl when they EXP and want to talk with their Casual-Awesome-Pearl. For that matter, you could kill two birds with one stone by doing that; shells that demand people be on them constantly could have that, while still allowing people a social LS.

Can't say I'm not a bit miffed out RDM/NIN tanking nerf. On the other hand, every single one of RDM/NIN's survival tools are still intact.

I guess RDM/NIN can be an "enmity dump"; get a couple of DD/THF's to WS+TA on the RDM/NIN, while PLD/NIN steady build enmity in full DD gear for a minute or two without worrying over Utsusemi. Instead of blowing MP on enmity spells and inventory space on enmity gear, the RDM in this role can continue to keep up Refresh/Haste for the PLD, as well as have space for enfeebling gear and the time to put them to use. (PLD and RDM would cure each other, of course.)

            * * *

I think SE wasn't so much against RDM/NIN 'tanking' as against RDM/NIN tanking with so little help. PLD/NIN still needs MP recovery, curing support, and would love a BRD, but RDM/NIN with a BRD/WHM is a complete tank package.

The CE cut on those spells just mean that for RDM/NIN's to 'tank', they need WS+TA on them to gain/replenish CE at a reasonable rate.

They had one in RDM. It was an excellent tank. Hell even SE used a RDM/NIN to tank AV in their How To: video.

SE still has 3 tanks, all of which are different at certain things and good at them.

NIN- anything you do not want to get hit by in an evasion build
PLD- The thing you want hate established fast on for a burn.
RDM- still the best Magical Based HNM tank. Still able to tank things a PLD can in non burn styles.

              Blind>EN2>blind>EN2>Blind>EN2>Blind>EN2>Blind>EN2>Blind>EN2 (174MP) (VE= 3240) (CE= 480+Cures/Shadows)

assuming this cycle takes a minute and you heal yourself (cheat cures) or a hate source (a -hp gear swap guy) you can rack some good cure hate too lets just assume you acumulat 1000CE cure hate in a minute , at base you are looking at: about 3 minutes to cap VE, (up from about 2) and CE @ around 6 minutes (up from 3) and behind PLD's (1,4). So not a huge nerf, just puts as back where we belong.

SE seems to be taking this idea to heart with FFXIV, as there will be Linkshells for social purposes and "Companies" for events that grow and get bigger over time based on what it's members do. It's a nice balance between the two ideas from what I've heard so far.

I'm aware of that and I mentioned it, but SE didn't make RDM into a tank the players did. Just like SE didn't make Nin into a tank either. SE, in and of themselves, suck at making tanks in FFXI. I'm hoping XIV doesn't have a similar repeat of these issues.

i know that....but techn. you can cast it on yourself and still get the AoE effect on the entire party....so does casting it on yourself work?

"Spells compatible with Composure are Regen, Refresh, Blink, Stoneskin, Aquaveil, Haste, all Barspells, all Enspells and Spikes spells, Phalanx, Deodorize, Sneak, and Invisible. Note that Deodorize, Sneak, and Invisible are random duration spells, and may still wear off very quickly. (Bar-ra spells such as Barfira will apply the tripled duration to the caster but not to his party.)"

                          I'm having fun btw.

Edit: Didnt see this one. The duration of most Enhancing Magic spells that are cast upon yourself while under this effect will be tripled. Buffs casted on other players do not receive this benefit, nor will buffs kast by other players onto someone with Composure active.

I also feel compelled to bring up something I enjoyed in EVE. Basically, your Corp can have shared storage spaces; and these can be access controlled like a file system. You can be allowed to deposit things but not take them out, for example; when you're more trusted, those rights can be enabled. You can have different subcategories, so someone might be allowed access to say, ammo, but not "Our awesome shit". Quite often, it made more sense to work in little communist units than to be dog eat dog. For example, in one of my Corps, I was very green and pretty useless; I got lots of relatively useless items. But it was more profitable for me to put these in the corps storage than to sell them on the AH or to an NPC, as my Corp mates could then reach in, take those items out, and synthesize them into more valuable things. This sort of a system would seem very well suited to FFXIV's emphasis on crafting.

Obviously the big problem with a system like this is that it leaves you very wide open to conmen and/or stupid management. EVE deals with this by simply being a 'Fuck You'-universe. A popular bit of advice is 'never fly with anything you can't afford to lose', which is sort of the FFXI equivalent of "If you leave your mog house with it equipped or in your inventory, you should be prepared for it to explode simply because it was profitable or entertaining for someone else to blow you up."-- and they carry that all the way up on to Titan-class ships, which are sort of like Relic weapons, except they take multiple linkshells full of players to pull off. probably not the sort of mentality SE will go with in FF14. But the general concept of "Hey, instead of selling that, why not put it somewhere your friends can use it?" could be applied well in FF14, if done right.

Ya EVE was cool like that, definitely a major change from playing 11. Although I still managed to find the PvE solo ship and keep to myself. PVP was fun in that game though. Ya know, I just may head back, SE kinda put a salty taste in my mouth with this update I don't feel like spending another year playing a game as Heal/Cure slut, and since my melee adventures will be nixed. (going to need to go back to the +50ACC 10% haste days of RDM Melee) Basically that or solo.

However I did have a blast again in Bibikki on Gobs and Giraffes Enfeebling, Healing, and Magic Bursting. Yep that is right magic Bursting. Oh and BTW Conserve TP is totally a busted as ability. Can't give us a decent aspir, but DRG's sure as hell are cool enough to get 50% TP returns on conserve TP. They get lucky enough + a spirit link 80/40 can have DRG's doing 2 SC's alone. But Aspir doing a realistic return on MP is to strong. Fuck you SE. MeleeXI makes me sick.

                                What are you talking about?

I've been getting fairly decent to pretty good returns on my Aspirs going over 200 MP returns at times as WHM/SCH.
