Worthless since -na spells fire off fast enough anyway and the Sacrifice+Esuna combo has all but obsoleted all -na spells not called Silena and Stona. It does produce a lot of hate though but to be honest I've rarely pulled hate with it unless it followed a massive curing spree.
Yes because Erase totally doesn't have a cooldown which totally doesn't matter when you've got a 50/tic bio or burn on your ass from a soulflayer or bomb

Reread the description again
Divine Benison............WHM Lv.50.................Quickens spellcasting for status ailment recovery magic. Grants a bonus to enmity reduction
That is spellcasting. As in casting time. Not recast time. Haste is the only native way for a WHM to reduce recast timers. Light Arts also reduces recast time if you're subbing SCH.
Thing is, I can hit Misery > Sacrifice > Solace > Esuna and get all that off long before I can hit 6 people with Erase. A SCH, Lv80 WHM/SCH and Lv80 RDM/SCH can also burn up a strat to make that Erase AoE. You can also get AoE Erase if you have Yagrush.
Like I said. Completely worthless skill considering what else is happening with this update. Every other job is getting an incredible boost except for the White Mage which badly needs something to allow it to remain competitive with RDM and SCH in not just merit parties but as a main healer role in general. I'm sure that the RDMs and SChs would also be grateful for WHMs getting their role back as it would let them do something not called healing and use all their abilities.
Re: Adjustments of the Job Persuasion! (06/17/2010)
Well that bonus to enmity reduction might make it the "healer with the least hate" plus cure VI might be handy if HP rises significantly. Like another 400 points or so making it way cheaper then 3-4 cure IV's and less time consuming. Maybe.
Maybe we should lay off this for awhile till after we get to 80 I feel like the mood is being brought down something heavy.

FULL STOP
These aren't even proper patch notes. And I don't even trust patch notes. It speeds up spellcasting in a non-specified way. DO NOT read more into it than that.
This same page shows that Dancers are finally getting an ability that makes them capable of inflicting critical hits. I dunno if you've noticed, but everyone's capable of inflicting critical hits.
And damn is that job traits chart horrid. I wasn't gonna complain, but I'm now looking through it again since Elwynn pointed out the error in my ways... and I realize I have no idea what jobs half of these traits belong to.
"And if he left off dreaming about you, where do you suppose you'd be?"
Re: Adjustments of the Job Persuasion! (06/17/2010)
Speaking of reading into stuff. that Fencer move sounds fishy, almost as if you cant have anything at all in the sub slot in order to activate it. But if it raises crit rate by 10-20% that may just balance it out possibly. Especially for weapon skills that do crit.
However, the JPs are thinking the same thing as I was, as a pun, with the jiscii-art of the wii-driving taru. The kanji in question, though is the one from "kanashii", so it's "pathetic car" or "sadness car". So I'm kind of surprised that they aren't making Xbox jokes.
I wouldn't be so literal with taking it from kanashii, remember lots of kanji have multiple usages, some of which are very obscure. And yes, after hate reset, a movement speed change seems to be the most popular theory; possibly party based. One person mused that it would be a movement speed increase for party members who are farther away (to get them close to you, for help, I guess?). Personally, I think there's more to be found in the implications native speakers draw from it than what you find in a dictionary.
I have to say, I did enjoy 哀戦士 though.
Re: Adjustments of the Job Persuasion! (06/17/2010)
IMO i think it will be the movement speed increase or some other type of buff. besides snk/inv they dont have a buff spell and only resently did they get a "buff JA". thats what im betting on anyways.

Yeah, Ninjas don't have any buffs other than sneak and invis.
Certainly nothing powerful to base the popularity of the entire class on.
Really a shame, you'd think a Ninja would have some stupidly overpowered tool that SE didn't forsee the consequences of and will never be able to properly fix.
Re: Adjustments of the Job Persuasion! (06/17/2010)
oh that sarcasm button.
now that I think about it, I don't see them giving movement speed to ninjas in a spell. Ninja Kyahan already provide that for a decent percentage of time.
Re: Adjustments of the Job Persuasion! (06/17/2010)
Now this car thing has me thinking. maybe the new nin move will allow the ninja to summon a vehicle of some kind mid combat to have the whole party ride in. We hop into it and stick our heads out the window wearing cool sunglasses and drive right into the mob in something classy. (Like a Volvo or BMW. something not too classy but still higher middle class). The resulting attack will report doing 0 damage but will open the mob to any skillchain for the next 30 secs regardless of resonance, having the A attribute taking effect for all weapon skills taking place during the interval. The ni version will involve a rocket ship loading the alliance into it and being fired at the mob pushing it into the stratosphere doing again 0 damage, but this time opening it to magic bursts in the same manner. For the san version Gurren Lagann will come right of the ground with "Happily Ever After" playing while the entire animation takes place. 1 person in the zone will randomly receive a refresh effect worth 1 mp a tick that stacks with regular refresh. All mobs in the zone will temporarily stop moving as well as players as the animation continues with Gurren Lagann performing "Giga Drill Breakah!" on the mob doing 1 damage (infinitely better damage compared to the ichi and ni forms) as well as resetting mob TP to 0 and having it under a penance like effect about 5 secs shorter then a fully merited mnks as to not take away there place in a party. this move can be used once every minute. The animation is 3 minutes long.
