Re: New Trials (of the Magians) Await Ambitious Adventurers! (05/27/2010)

As usual BG has all the best info (amongst the dick head posts).

Kaeko himself solo'd Krab (along with a few others) on RDM/SCH I think (for very quick spell casting) it was using pinning. It's a cheap tactic but it works.

An easy 6-man set up is to have a V-shape formation with a PLD at the center and 2 MNK on the flanks with mages in the back. The reason for MNK is because they can deal steady damage and more importantly use Chakra to remove Venom status.

Really the major thing you have to watch out for is Mega Scissors because it resets hate but even if the PLD should go down a well-geared & merited MNK can take him on for a bit.

Could swap out the monks with dancers presumably. Fan Dance and Healing Waltz alone would seem to be beneficial in that fight.

        ROFL no.

Only Chakra can currently remove Venom, which is 50/tic poison that can not be cured otherwise. DNC is good, but it's not capable of putting out the steady DPS of a good BB MNK either. It's not so much a matter of keeping the PLD alive as it is making the damn crab dead fast enough. To be fair though DNC does bring some nice utility to the table and the extra 10 haste could do a lot, but I'd rather not mess with what works.

interesting. i figured he was too fast for pinning...although he is kinda big and probably bad at turns.

ha, I agree pinning is kind of cheap but…I cant tell you how many times I’ve felt emotionally robbed in this game.
I actually did that a little bit while soloing my blm. Although it was only on gob pets…not t3 vnms lol.

Any who, hopefully they add another trial or 2 to the OAT weapons that don’t require vnms. Even if its for a few minor DMG points or a couple less delay.
I just finished the first 3 axe trials that require you to kill a NMs (3 times). Gawd I hate lottery pops ><.

Now it’s on to 400 lizards
                Then 300 puks
                Then 500 vermin
                Then 600 birds
                Then 400 gnoles

                I mean come on…what’s another 2200 mobs right? /sigh…

ya thats annoying that they make you kill thousands of mobs to start off with and then tack on this kill blow/ elemental day kill thing....why not just triple the the number of mobs you need to kill...it will probably be faster anyways

                    Yea I agree.

Forget weather effects too…most of the time there not up long enough. At least in my experiences.
or its something so stupid like snolls during fire weather ><

                    What axe are you doing?

i'm not doing axe. getting the joy clone for rdm it doesnt have any weather effects/killing blow/ ele day thing but if i remember right the soulsaber has one of those...which im getting next.(and not looking forward to the extra kill restrictions) i'm stuck on 300 cluster type mobs....i cant believe they even used that as a mob. the only place worth farming those is Mount Z. and unless i get a small group together to go out and do them its hard as hell to solo them w/out them blowing up in your face and adding tons of down time if not an unlucky death. so i gave up tryn after like 15 kills and decided to just wait till my rdm and blu friends get theirs sword to same trial.

I thought about doing a dark and wind staff for Smn because they have -4 perp cost...but overall that means i'd be working on 4 axes, 2 h2hs and 2 staves.

estimated time of completion would be.......2018 ish?

lol.....lol.....ya no kidding....i want woth swrds for rdm plus the staff w/ 15% cure pot. and im planning on taking blm to 75 soon so gonna ahave to start on a staff for blm....havent looked into to much yet so dont know if theres anything worth getting for blm atm, but with new weapons and augs otw there might be something pretty good. then on top of that i wake up at 5:30 every morning for work and dont get home till 6 so that leaves me 4 hrs to get other stuff done and then if i have time for FF i can play....weekends arent as bad but still ya ill prob get all that done by 2018 as well lol

Understandable: with such things as colored Abyssite at stake, I can see why it would be a bad idea to try something crazy like, say, soloing such an HNM . . .

                              Oh wait, never mind.

Seeing as it wasn't me doing it

I don't always care to experiment with things, particularly if takes a while to gather the resources.

I mean, would you try a KS99 with all WAR for shits and giggles to see if it could work? Probably not. I'm not discouraging experimentation, I just don't like doing it myself when there's a proven method that works easily unless it's of little consequence.
