Here is the section from the user agreement:

5.2(e)  Credit Card Authentication.
For your protection, SEI now requires that all new credit cards used for Fees be registered with either Verified by Visa(R) or MasterCard SecureCode(R).  Please go to Visa USA | Global | Error - Page Not Found or www.securecode.com to register your credit cards.  If you do not register your cards on one of these sites, or if your credit card issuing bank has not signed up with either service, you will not be able to access the PlayOnline services.  In such case, please contact your place of purchase for return, refund, or exchange subject to the return and exchange policy of the retailer. If:
(1) your place of purchase is unwilling to accept returns or exchanges of opened software AND
(2) you are unable or unwilling to register with Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCard AND
(3) it has been less than 30 days since you purchased the software, AND
(4) you are located in the United States or Canada, THEN you may contact PlayOnline Information Center at (858) 790-PLAY (7529) and request a full refund of your purchase price for the Licensed Software, not including shipping and handling charges.  Please note that any refund is discretionary and will be contingent upon SEI's receipt of the complete Licensed Software package and confirmation that your credit card is not compatible with either system.

I have heard that you can bypass the issue by registering on a console or by calling the customer support number. Customer support will input your cc info if you are hooked up with a decent representative. You may need to call multiple times, I've been told.

Interesting... well I'll check if my bank does SecureCode then... I'm sure if they're doing this for XI it will probably be the same for XIV.

New question! How much updating takes place after a clean install of this?

This. It's what I did and it worked fine.

I got the $11 download, uninstalled all the content and playonline viewer, reinstalled from the download, and was never prompted to enter the CD key. What am I doing wrong here??? Help!!!

Did you already have an active account? If so, then just use the active account if you already used the CD keys. If not, you have to go to the control panel and enter it there, I think... Been so long. lol

Yep, already have an active account. I was just trying to get the three add-ons for a bargain instead of paying 10 bucks each.

Ah. Then the add-ons, I don't think you need a key for them then. For that, you may have to ask someone else. Try playing them in game though. Might just need to pay the $10.

Will UK players be able to buy this off amazon.com and have it work on a UK xbox. Are xbox games even region dependent? Not sure Ive never bought anything from amazon.com.

Yes 360 games are usually region dependent. I import games and the only region that, many times, is not region encoded are Asian games. (This does not mean Japanese games, that is a separate region.) I would not take a chance if I were you.

As for when or if the UK will get the same deal, that is really up to SE. But knowing them it could take a while and Satan might be drinking a slurpie while wearing a parka in hell.

Bought the 11$ D/L for the last 2 expansions, got a CD Key in my email. Tossed it into my account where you go to add additional expansions and upgrade (its the place under membership), walked into my mog house.... got a cutscene.

Now to find ppl to do this with.... oh.... and make sure to walk to the Tenshodo and click the chest for your Nexus Cape. Only works in Conquest areas (or so I read.)
