Trials of the Magians is kind of disappointing so far.

SE: "Here! Take this Great Katana and kill an NM with a 1-2hr pop time that will be overcamped for weeks to come! Hmm. Not hard enough? Kill it THREE time!!! Oh, don't forget pay us for all of these hours we're making you stand around waiting for an NM to pop and hopefully claim!"

Worst part is the first trial only changes the name of the sword.

Hmm. How will the nomad mog bonanza prizes be given out now that a large amount of the population has been moved to another server and their names changed? I only won rank 5 on the character I entered with, but I'm in a different server now with a different name.

By sending them to your mailbox on the new server? Like the login announcement had been saying for a week?

So anyhow, I'm sure anyone on a merge server knows what fail last night was. Even after the two hour extension, everything went {Spike Flail} very quickly on all eight worlds. My guess is that the low-population server machines weren't up to the spec of a high-population server and needed RAM upgrades or memory limit configurations raised or something stupid like that.

I woke up this morning to what was apprently the second of a triple Besieged. 600 people in there, what a way to meet a new world after a merge. Someone mentioned that there were a lot of Tarutaru on Sylph, and of those 600, over 160 were TT, or more than 25%. But I just did a /sea all and /sea all tar and got 952/4233 (!) or 22.5%.

Yes, you read that right, IT'S OVER FOUR THOUSAND during JP prime. WTF, did they screw up and merge a third world in there? We were both in the 1500-1800 average before the merge, so I guess some of this is people showing up because of the merge. But that's a lot more than I would have expected.

EDIT: 250 in Lower Jeuno! {/panic}! And 743 in Whitegate!

Welcome to 2005-2006 again.

There was about that many people on Valfore when I logged in this morning (10pm JST) to see if Eldrich would pop in the 30 minutes I had (I'm never going to get that damn earring). It has been a long time since I've seen that many people on at once, but I have seen it before and it was back in what would probably be considered FFXI's heyday.

So relax, it's not the end of the world.

If you'd actually played FFXI within the last 5-6 years and been on Fenrir at least you'd see how large a percentage of the active playerbase the Euros are.

Honestly, I'm amazed that there is a brit out there that could take enough time out of their busy schedule of getting themselves shitfaced drunk long enough to both post anything and not put their fist through their monitor.

Anyway, the first source that I know I've seen recently but didn't bookmark had the Japanese population at 55% of the users. That alone is enough to not take the servers down if possible during JP primetime.

The last time SE broke down population regionally was the 2004 census, Lets take a look at that now, since I have it right here -
