I knew this was going to happen, doing the update and server merge was going to take a god while, not only do they have to merge the servers (moving files is fun!) but then they have to remove the dead servers and cabling attached to them, and clean up. Not to mention checking to make sure all their moves went smoothly and changing some of the routing information in their servers routers.
I admit I don't know that much with server stuff, I am just in semester two of networking/CCNA stuff ;p-------------------------------------------------------------------------

As expected, I had to rename my main character and not my mules.
I got on for a moment, checked a friends list mail, then noticed my health bar was zero. A moment later I disconnected, and now on all three characters (logged off in three different zones) I get FFXI-3203 error. Presumably Sylph shat itself from the sudden load of 2500+ trying to log in all at once.

Hmm. How will the nomad mog bonanza prizes be given out now that a large amount of the population has been moved to another server and their names changed? I only won rank 5 on the character I entered with, but I'm in a different server now with a different name.Comment
