Vnms are much easier to pop than znms. You don’t need to get zeni or anything. Basically you talk to an NPC in Jeuno (Ru’L Gardens), pay him 1k and he’ll give you a key item. You then go out to the zone of your choice (where they can be fought) and /heal. If you are within 300yalms of one, it will tell you how far and in what direction. Once you get about 5 yalms away, it will pop when you /heal
So far I’ve done all the vnms (cept T4) in the Rolan/SauChamp area. After defeating a T1, your key item has a chance to change color (which will display in your chat log). If it doesn’t change, you’ll keep popping T1s until it does. Once it changes, you’ll pop T2s only. Once you beat a T2 it has a chance to change color again allowing you to pop T3s.
We’ve pop about 3 T3 vnms in the same area and our key item broke every time. I’m not sure (and haven’t researched much into it) if there are any requirements that were missing to get the T4 item. Maybe you need to beat all T3s (like znms)?
Some of the Magian trails require you to get a Ex. item that the T3s drop. I trial items appear to be 100% but you need 10 of them. All the T3s have a chance to drop the +6 rings (The +6 int one drops off the T4 iirc).
I personally like the system. You can easily pop 3 or more T3s a day instead of spending hours upon hours getting zeni.
