                          From what I played of it, Shantotto was a bit more straight forward, it was just that synthesis bit near the start that could go awry. Higher chance of losing the crystal than any of the farmed materials, though.

                            I was soooooo surprised my luck allowed me thru w/o a single bad synthesis... and I got gimpt crafting skillz.

                              Yeah, because, with increased level, RDM so won't get anything like Refresh II, sub /SCH and be able to Accession enspells (better enspells than SCH/RDM might I add), Stoneskin, Phalanx (better phalanx than SCH/RDM might I add), Haste...

                              ...you know, still have Refresh and Convert regardless of what they're subbing. WHM sub /RDM? But that would mean they don't get all those goodies from /SCH. BLM sub /RDM? As if that would actually make them anything but a better soloer. SCH sub/ RDM? They've been doing it all this time. Nothing new there.



                              I'm so tired of people always looking at it and thinking, "Look what it's doing to my job!" as if it the only one that is going to be adversely affected by any sort of update. If anything, allowing others to use Refresh and Convert might merely level the playing field a bit.

                                Yeah, I don't see the apocalypse other people are seeing for RDM or any other jobs here.

                                I mean, sure, RDM might be able to do Accession/Stoneskin or Phalanx II with more potent results, but subjobs being what they are, they're still going to be capped at 99RDM/49SCH with two strategem charges at a two minute recast.

                                SCH could stand to gain potentially two more charges with lowered recharge times. Being able to do something more often can sometimes trump being able to do it better.

                                Red Mage was beating on WHM on the healer slot for a while because of the "more often" factor thanks to Refresh and Convert being in their corner. A RDM with a higher rank in enhancing isn't going to beat out a SCH on hitting the Stoneskin HP cap by a dramatic degree, though, they'll just be able to put up a better Phalanx and the difference there might not be that great either. SCH just by virtue of being able to do Accession more often SCH would still be the better defensive party buffer.

                                Where RDM and WHM go from this point, well, we have a good indication based on their previous updates now. RDM's ability to extend their personal buffs by three times the duration helps their cycles for buffing PTs , its possible that advantage could be further increased. A RDM being able to take themselves out of the equation of buffing for a while is advantage to their cycles

                                I don't know if its a sign RDM will get pushed in a melee direction, but if WHM is getting a small tanking ability, RNG is getting another look at enmity reduction and BST is getting another "Snarl" type ability (this came out in the tweets from the show, not the update notes), all of that seems to play into the notion of smaller group play and what better place to let RDM melee in?
