If you have one MMO under your belt, you know about RMT, so you know what you name yourself can potentially lead to being contacted by RMT.

-If we all thought ahead and named ourselves uncommon things, it'd become the new common.

-I'm not gonna name myself something goofy just to dodge problems. Will you be sacrificing your awesome Hero ideas when DCUO comes out? Will you label your awesome hero concept "Omgwtfbbqhero"?


No matter what, giving up a name idea because it seems like an easy target for RMT is not something the player is responsible for. Calling it into question as to whether or not their constant haranguing is justified is incredibly silly. Let's look in a different direction, please.

Only got one of these, immediately put in a GM call to report it. As a former IRC administrator I tend to take impersonation of an administrator/GM fairly seriously.

I actually got one of those not too long ago. As well as one of my ls mates. From the same person no less lol. We both bitched the person out then reported XD With in 15 mins, the person was gone lol.

Regarding what Omgbbq said, does anybody notice any sort of trend where certain jobs get targetted more than others? I have been under the impression, up until now, that the "telemarketer bot" used probably just searches for names, since the tells seem to go in alphabetical order.

Whenever I get a tell, I could immediately inform somebody named "Lonesoldier" in my linkshell that he was going to get one in about a minute.

The hell kinda posts have you been reading here? I wasn't justifying what they were doing, but expecting SE to dream up some cure-all for the trial is asinine considering this issue existed before the 14 day trial ever came into play. So we cut off tells in the trial version, they'll just go back to the old way. They'll put the new account on a card and go right back to what they were doing. Nothing will have changed.

We've already gimped fishing to hell for the first ten levels and had level requirements for quests raised. What the hell do you expect SE to do? They ban, they make the game all the more unfriendly to initial crafting and questing. What else must they do?

RMT have already proven time and again being banned isn't even an obstacle, they'll be back in sky within a week. If that doesn't stop them, what will? Ban all China IPs is about the only thing you can do. Even then, that's not a perfect solution.

Well... They can get rid of the /sea "Letter here" all. That would cut down a good amount of spam. To even get further, they can even make it so you musth have an actual name for a player. Not some random shit like jjkkkllikklj.

I'd love to see someone code that so that it can account for all nationalities and eccentric character combinations that are meaningful to an individual but not the general community. You're gonna hurt some folks along the way.

The other thing being that those that do use the name generator get smeared with RMT connotations anyway. Would they flag people that used the name generator, then?

Namingway is practically out of a job as is. Now he's going to be the RMT profiler?

Not the exact phrasing, but it was just the one line. Several other people in my ls got the same tell, once again, just the one line. They forgot to tell us where to go to give them all our log in stuffs.

Maybe they weren't real pro's and didn't get the whole idea?

Yes we do and it's almost always in a really. really bad American accent if it's a Kellogs brand cereal.

And it doesn't look too bad I guess. There's better clubs out there but if it's easy to get I may pick one up.

EDIT: Oh wait it's crafted. It won't be worth the cost on mats for me to get one crafted. Oh well *shrugs*

That form is two lines long. My guess is that the second line got caught in the spam filter, probably based on the phishing site address.

It was before the filter went into place. We were all double checking stuff, sure we'd missed it in battle spam or something.
