    Chances are this new system will work on all sorts of gear as well, more then likely anything that can be augmented will be able to be Synergized, which would make some really overpowered AH gear.
    But 10 gil says all those dat mined armors we saw get some sort of super special bonus from being Synergized.
    No chances. They've already said it. "2. Choose the base equipment you wish to enhance
    - A vast assortment of equipment will support evolith, from several hundred existing items spanning a wide range of levels to new equipment slated to be introduced alongside the Evolith system."

      Not looking forward to the party conversations after a synergy fail blows up one player's item that they were trying to attach their last evolith to.

      Well, I guess it depends on how harsh SE decides to make synergy failures. But potentially there could be some real drama over someone else screwing up and blowing up your item (to say nothing of the potential for sabotaging it on purpose).

          I mean it's not like you don't already have to fight NMs for these.
          Just stop for a moment and look at what SE has done so far, compared to augments;

          Most augments are garbage, though you can still luck out and get some really nice stuff. Most of it is soloable too, with the really good shit (mini-expansion final bosses) requiring a full party yes. For FoV, all you need are tabs, though, hardly the end of the world.


          Now let's look at the new bullshit SE is throwing at us;

          - New FoV-like regimens for hunting NMs for the Evolith
          - Get 5 other people, preferably with high level skills in various crafts
          - Go through the whole synergy process
          - Pray you get the right results (slots that can support your evolith)
          - Repeat previous 2 steps to attach the Evolith

          Maybe it'll work out okay, but I still think this is needlessly & overly complicated just to get a few augments on a weapon. I suppose this is SE's way of compensating for the lack of random & negative modifiers we find in FoV augments.

          Oh how I miss Diablo II, where the most complex it got was Rune Words, and just about all of those combos were discovered and listed in a fairly short amount of time, and simply required you to insert them into a socketed item. I don't know how Aion handles it's system but I've heard it's also fairly simple to grasp and easy to do.

          All I can say is there better be some damn worth while buffs, and they had better work with at least some R/EX gear and not just AH stuff. We don't need to modify more vendor trash, we want to empower/customize the stuff we already have and won't be getting rid of in the first place (Relics)

            If it's like much of their other content (MMM) that requires multiple people to do it, everybody will want to do it... for about three weeks. Then almost nobody will care, because they're too busy with their Dynamis / Sky Farming / HNM / whatever schedule, or the next fad. Unless the buff rewards are truly epic.

            Or the get-a-life multi-boxers will be the only ones doing it.

              If it is higher than 81, I can see a bunch of alchemists possibly making profits depending on what the items cost. (One of which will not be me )

                        They couldn't just add a simple slotting system; they do "SE it up" as they put it over at BG by making it some ridiculous, 10-million step process;

                        VS Diablo II where you just kill shit for drops then insert it into the armor; the most complicated it got was needing to do the Maulus quest to slot any item, or looking up rune words. No fucking around with some fancy new (group!) craft, making sure the size, shape, and elements match up... just insert it into the damn item and make sure you meet the level requirements (if any). MAYBE it will turn out OK, but I'm remaining skeptical for the time being.

                              They couldn't just add a simple slotting system because, as said, nothing has slots now. Using another game as an example, WoW didn't have lots for gems(augments pretty much) until the first expansion came out, and they to design ALL the new gear to reflect this, but none of the old gear was changed to include this, mostly because at that point the old gear was obsolete(save a few exceptions like 2pc T2 Resto Shammy, etc).

                              Since the 'old' gear in FFXI is still wildly used, they'd have to go in and redo almost everything, which is honestly just as much work as this, if not more.

                                Yes but said slotting system could have been done in a better man, or perhaps at least worded better.

                                I suppose we won't really know until we see it in action and try for ourselves but the whole thing just seems like one gigantic multi-step nightmare.
