FINAL FANTASY XI Official Web Site

Sep. 11, 2009 16:00 [PDT] From: FINAL FANTASY XI
    Regarding GM Call Congestion

We have confirmed that RMT and suspicious site advertisements are being sent in large quantities as tells in game.

Regarding these issues, we ask that when you place a GM call to report them, that you please include the name of the character that sent you the tell in the call summary. Additionally, while we are investigating all calls that come in, we estimate that the number of calls will continue to increase by a considerable amount, so we ask for your understanding if a GM is unable to personally respond to these issues specifically.

To counter the increase of these issues, we are planning to introduce a filter to block suspicious tells along with the next version update. We ask for your patience and understanding in this matter.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

THANK YOU! It's about time they get to implementing something to stop all these annoying tells other than repeatedly black listing each new mule.

Took 'em long enough to figure that one out.

I have already been following these instructions they're giving to a "T," so this amounts to nothing more than additional official acknowledgment of the issue at hand to me.

Finally they are doing something about it! It took them too long to decide to do something though...

No shit, SE. We've only been telling you this for months now. And look what happened when you let them continue. Of course watch them implement the "filter" in the most fail-worthy way possible, with people getting auto-bans or "**********" substitutions for telling each other their LS website URLs, and RMT still being able to spam enough of their message for the mouth-breathing gil buyers to find their web shites.

I'm gonna hope for the best and expect what Elwynn said. Glad they "confirmed" it. I had my suspicions that dozens of tells were getting sent to me and everyone I knew each week, but who can be sure right?

Come to think about it, it's things like this that make me think that S-E should really, truly play their own game as one of its players, for once. And no gimmes, either - yer goin' from 1-75 and gettin' gear like the rest of us! Maybe then some of their updates would make more sense.

We apologize for the delay in releasing the patch. Khim spawned in the LAST FRICKIN WINDOW AGAIN lol. Grats to our tools programmer on his new Hauteclaire!

Wow, and it only took them about six months.

The RMT tell spam started only in the last six months. While it's true they could have anticipated such a thing several years ago, they should have reacted as soon as it started happening and not several months later.

They really should see how many time sinks players actually go through just to get to end game shit. First the grind to get lvl 18, then the Sj. Then leveing a job to 37, and getting an advanced job. Then leveling 2 jobs to lvl 75. Then doing all the fame quests for the shit that we really need in order to be any good in end game. Then all the stuff we gotta put up once we actually get to end game, and how much we have to deal with NM spawns and other such stuff.

I just hope SE learned what to do, and what not to do for FFXIv...

Well they've already stated that NMs & HNMs will be handled through Guildleve so that's a major step in the right direction.

Yes, but they didn't say all of them will be. It still has the chance to be as it is in FFXI. where we have2-3 hour to 1 week pop nms and BCNMS.
