Re: Payer Authentication Service (3-D Secure)

You have to have installed the game and set up a password and have an POL ID just to be able to put in your credit card info. So now you are saying you don't have them? Then how do you know that your credit card didn't work?? You are making absolutely no sense. Do you even have the game?

FYI, stop posting about the same issue over and over in multiple threads, it's a good way to get banned from the forums.

Re: Payer Authentication Service (3-D Secure)

I think he's saying before he buys the game or registers he wants to make sure his payment method will be accepted. I have a friend in Singapore who played since JP launch before taking a break recently and when he tried to return discovered his payment method is no longer viable. He is also unable to use the authentication service so can no longer play which I find beyond fucked up.

Re: Payer Authentication Service (3-D Secure)

You have to have a POL account to be able to get to the point where you enter your credit card information. You install POL first, update it, then install FFXI, and then update that. Then you log into POL in order to get to the game and create a character or enter your credit card information. There should be no issue with trying to create a POL account, POL is free so you do not need create card information to use it. So you do have a user name and password if you installed the free trial and can use that when you call to talk to SE about your situation.

I'm rude for trying to help you when no one else would?....that's a rich one! lol And telling you to not spam the forums with the same issue in multiple threads is my job, sorry if you don't understand that. It would have been rude if I didn't warn you and just banned you.

Re: Payer Authentication Service (3-D Secure)

              HikariRyuujin:-

The best thing is, even you manage to get card that supports Mastercard Securecode or Verified by Visa, you may NOT pass the playonline authentication.

I am from your neighbour, I have a mastercard with securecode and visa card with verified by visa. Citibank does NOT support this security protocol yet in this region for unknown reason.

I tried both cards (1 has been used for 6 years on playonline), after filling up info playonline will open the web browser and contact my bank for securecode entry. I key in the CORRECT password, and next, the browser return with :-

              ERROR!!
              Failed to authenticate the card.
Please contact the card issuer for details

The securecode keyed in is confirmed correct, because i purposely tried to key in wrong code and the bank immediately prompts wrong entry. After keying in the correct code, the bank accepts it, but in next page, web browser returns this error message. I do not know where the problem is, since the bank has accepted the code. The bank customer support says there is no attempt to charge to the card. So I do not know how to go about it. 3 times in SE support chat and they only said to try other card, contact card issuer, check all entries are correct.... and nothing is wrong at SE side.

I have tried more than 20 times on each card, trying all name combinations (the playonline form has only first name and last name, no spacing allowed. I can't key in my full name of 3 words). Anyway that should not be the problem since i can use the same card for past 6 years.

I think SE does not accept international credit card authentication with this 3d-secure something. I am exhausted all means i can on PC version.

Well that does not stop me from continue playing. From other players in FF11 I am told to buy a Xbox and FF11 for Xbox; install the game, use the old game code from PC version (xbox version is left aside, just need the game installed), and update my info using xbox. This will bypass the authentication i heard. Anyway I have to waste money on the xbox console and another copy of ff11 game.

Long story short, you can play the game on xbox or ps2/3 without worrying of the stupid authentication problem. Just spend extra money on it if you really love FFXI.

Re: Payer Authentication Service (3-D Secure)

I heard from my friend they are providing prepaid card for this...
Sigh... I am really piss off now...
I have wasted my money to buy Ultimate Collection, and I can't play it now...

Now I have to buy new console only for this game... ?
                Hell no...
I might as well play WoW...

Go to hell with their new payment method authentication... *Not you, but for SE*
I believe some of the players outside US can't continue because of this stupid payment method...

SE just won't care about their player, till now they have not provide any solution for those player outside US...
                Which is sucks...

Re: Payer Authentication Service (3-D Secure)

Well, you may save money if you know of a friend at your place that plays FFXI on xbox360 (or PS2 or PS3 also works).
Go to his place to register your POL account with your own codes from ultimate collection (the codes can be used for all platforms), keyed in your payment details, and after that delete your POL entries from the console (not delete your POL account from SE) so that your friend has no access to your account.
If your friend has the console but not playing ff11, you need to buy ff11 for that console version, because the DVD for PC is not compatible. You can use either codes, and stick to it. You can save your money for the console at least.

After that go back and install on your PC. Everytime your credit card expires you have to repeat the same thing again.

SE has stated clearly ff11 is not planned for outsiders. Outsiders "may" play the game, but is not under the same fair treatment as US/JP/Europe players. They solved the authentication problem last year only in the regions they support. Outsiders no luck.

I just ordered ff11 for xbox. I guess ff14 later will be the same too. I am not a WoW fan, although it has the most players in the world.

Re: Payer Authentication Service (3-D Secure)

I have heard of people that couldn't play because of this issue calling and getting them to set it up over the phone for them. I would think that they wouldn't turn away a paying customer, if you know what I mean! So try it and see. Remember that not all operators are as helpful as the other so you might have to try a couple times and be firm but polite when you do it.

The 3-D secure isn't set up by Square Enix but they utilize that service. The banks are the ones that set this service up. Chase provided this service for free for me but I recently found out that they are selling the Sony Cardmember services to another bank so I'm not sure what will happen now.

(It's Capital One that's taking over)
