Epic! Looks like not only will SE get rid of possible new RMT, but they also got rid of new legit players as well.

Wait... We NEED to registar our cards with these programs so we can play?

Really good work SE. You killed part of the player base.

          <Edit>

Well, if this does work though... It might actually get rid of the RMTs... only temparaly though lol.

Re: Payer Authentication Service (3-D Secure)

Just received a new debit card issued by my bank the other day to replace my old one. Had a new number on it so I had to update all my account infos from ffxi to paypal. The process itself wasn't bad, and it went through alright, but then again, my debit card is a visa card so it was supported.

For those of you who are concerned about your existing debit or credit cards not being supported, the visa and mastercard gift cards are essentially reloadable prepaid cards and should work just fine regardless of your credit history. Not fun to acquire I know, but its a solution to your immediate FF dilemma.

I was thinking about people who use Prepaid Debit/Gift Cards earlier. Does the Verified system work with those since they aren't technically issed by a bank?

I don't know if the RMT are still doing this, but when they were stealing accounts before, they would change the CC/User information to a random bunch of numbers and letters. This will stop them from changing the information but not from being able to login to the account, unless you have a security token.

Hmm master card or visa huh. I guess they are telling American Express to piss off. "Don't leave home with out it" but you better not try to buy something online with it.

Well AmEx is already pretty useless.

Given the shortage of results searching my banks website for 'Verified by Visa' it looks like I might be quitting very soon. Too bad but oh well.

Visa and MasterCard cards aren't much better off either because it's the bank that has to support the service. Which is why I'm screwed if SE decides to invalidate my current card.

Adding on what I mentioned earlier about Newegg bringing up that "Verified by Visa" screen, SageLink Credit Union Main Page it is on the bottom right in the corner. I guess my credit union supports both Verified and SecureCode.

Now that I think about it, if they implement this on XIV there's a good chance I wont be able to play that one. <_<

It's been confirmed you can bypass the SecureCode/VbV thing on PS2 and Xbox. Who knows if they'll eventually change it, but I bet there would be some hoops to jump through for them to require it on consoles. So I have to wonder what, exactly, is the point?

Well Ray if you happen to go to your bank/credit union maybe you can speak to them in person. They might implement it if it isn't a huge cost towards the bank. But there are always charge cards that you can put money on but god help you if you miss a payment, because you can't over withdraw a charge card so your account will be but on hold if not banned. Then have to go through both SE and the corp that issues the charge card.

In MX there's no such a thing, and I doubt it will be implemented anytime soon here.

If you can indeed bypass it that way then there's absolutely no reason to inconvenience costumers by doing something that wont solve a f***.

What are the guys at SE thinking? >_<

maybe that service is just a front to steal credit card numbers or milk bits of money from your account even when it pretends it's not accepted?
