  • Mog Tablet Quest Redux! (05/19/2009)

Hail, gallant adventurers! Thanks to your feats of detection and derring-do, the lost Mog Tablets of King Kupofried have been recovered, and their mystic "Super Kupowers" freed to fill the realm with happiness and joy. The first phase of the quest will soon draw to a close, but fear not! After a random period of time (eight to twenty-four hours), the tablets will once more be scattered to the winds, and the quest will begin anew!

Would-be relic hunters be warned! The ethereal glow of the tablets will be faint this time around, testing your sleuthing skills to the fullest.

But stand strong, and shirk not from your moogle-appointed task! Restore the eleven tablets and their Super Kupowers to Vana'diel, and this time you could be among those to claim the elusive Kupofried's Ring!

    --

Translation: oshit, we made that too easy on you assholes.

Wont make a difference, the tablets will be recovered in a matter of minutes (maybe an hour).

Also, I still think the Kupowers are pretty lol.

Except for the fact that they affect NPCs too.

Having my NPC as Stalwart with Auto-Refresh + Kupower Refresh and Quickening after healing has been very convenient the last few days.

I hate the synthing one, it has wrecked havoc on my desynthesis profit, seeing how I would much rather break a crystal than get a NQ desynth.
I'm not seeing the connection. The Synthesis kupower simply lowers the chances of losing materials when you get a failure. If the description is to be believed, it does absolutely nothing to the odds of failing, succeeding, or HQing.

Ok, foot-in-mouth, I read the synthesis one wrong, I thought it reduced chance of failure. Just a good run of bad luck in desynth then.

Heh, leave it to SE to makes things a little tougher. Guess they werent expecting players to go out in droves to find those tablets

From the time the first one popped it was still about 30 minutes before all the tablets were recovered on my server.

On Seraph we are 10/11 and it is about 5-6 hours since the first ones were found! Where can it be!?

Edit: was found a couple of hours ago in Rolanberry Fields!, and I checked some of the harder to get to areas all around but not there

I think they made it easy the first time on purpose, so players could see how awesome the kupowers are.

They're amazing for new characters. At low levels even the 1/tick regen is significant, the refresh must be amazing (I haven't tried low level mage jobs yet) and of course new characters start with 0 in all skills so the skillup one is incredible. I've gained two 0.3 *parry* skillups in the same fight - even though low level fights last less than a minute. Some fights I've gained two *levels* of a weapon.

Treasure Hunter for everyone combined with a ton of caskets will fill your inventory + satchel pretty quick, but fortunately there's also free teleports and the occasional Repatriation if you need it.

And, of course, cheap teleports to Selbina even if you don't have Valk outpost yet, which is nice for characters too low level to chocobo (either new characters, or people on a new job).

At higher levels, some of these benefits are not quite as huge (regen and refresh don't scale to your max HP/MP or anything), but I think the skillups are still a lot better than before and free teleports and city-to-city teleportation don't suck. You can get some pretty decent stuff from caskets in high level areas, too, I think.

As for the tablets themselves, I heard a rumor people were using 3rd party tools to locate and warp to them. Hopefully the GMs will be watching... it would be funny as hell for someone to hack to get a tablet and then get banned before they can use the ring.

The best part for me is absolutely the inter-city teleports. So nice! Now if the other cities could get with Windursts intra-city system, I'd never have to run again!

                    Thankfully, we have Quickening.

Getting real spoiled by these power things. ; ; what's gonna happen when Quickening goes away? and free teleports? I don't remember what life was like before all this technology came into existence. I've almost capped evasion on my THF and I still need GAxe for my zergDRK.

That's because some of those features should've been available many years ago.

And now that SE finally adds them they randomize which services will be available.

This just doesn't appeal to me at all, I don't know maybe I'm just jaded but competing with 3000 people for 11 items isn't just a bit ... silly? At least I know the bonanza is a lottery. I guess I'm too lazy to go out looking for a tablet, there's just better things I could be doing I guess. People in the linkshell were talking about it a bit but really it doesn't seem like something important I should spend my time with.

I wouldn't be surprised if they made it something like "you have to have been in the zone for x number of minutes before you see tablet spawns", that way it's more a matter of stumbling across one when you're doing something else, instead of going out looking for them. Randomly finding one while you're farming, for example, instead of looking for them.
