Same reason a month later people are still AFK wailing away at fortifications and don't know its now alot easier to get to CN, EN and GC for campaign post-update.

They hear, but they don't listen.

Re: Go All to Pieces—The Mog Tablet Quest Unearthed! (05/07/2009)

      The way I read it:

      1. 11 tablets are distributed among the 29 zones, no more than one tablet per zone.

      2. Anyone who finds a tablet gets a Kupofried's Ring and another reward depending on which of the 11 tablets they found.

      3. Once the 11th tablet is found, three random kupowers (During AA: ALL 11 kupowers) go into effect for one Earth week.

      4. Then the kupowers shut down, and the 11 tablets are scattered again. Go back to step 1.

One kupofried's ring is 66k experience (to get the full amount you have to earn 66k yourself, for a total of 132k - this is at least three levels, more if you're lower level, or 13 merits). I assume that like the existing exp rings, campaign, besieged, FoV bonus exp, and exp items won't count.

If you started a fresh kupofried's ring at level 1, using a new charge whenever the previous one wore off, you would be level 35 when it ran out (more if you did FoV). The first charge alone would last till level 9. So it's great for that job that you want to have as a subjob but don't really enjoy. :D

Probably, if you already have a kupofried's ring and discover another tablet (yeah, right), you could wait to collect your reward until you had used up the previous ring. I wonder whether this would delay the kupowers for the whole server... probably not, otherwise a whole server would be screwed if someone got a tablet but then had their account terminated or something without collecting the reward. More likely you just get the tablet as a key item but the global event progression is triggered as soon as you collect it.

So, what would be the most inaccessible place for a mog tablet to pop? Behind the Moongate? The ledge with the maw in Sauromugue? The island in Batallia? The part of Rolanberry Fields that can only be reached through CN? The little ledge in Ronfaure that can only be reached through Bostanieux Oubliette? The stone monument area of North Gustaberg? The ledge in Sarutabaruta where you come out after a BCNM in Balga's Dais? One of the parts of the Altepa deserts that can only be reached through QSC? The headstone area in Yuhtunga that can only be reached through Ifrit's Cauldron? The outdoor balconies of Uggalepih, which are technically part of Yhoator? No one person can check all those places at once (let alone all the more reachable and well-trafficked areas). So what are the odds that out of 11 tablets, at least one will be in one of those hard places? Which of them are you going to log out in on the 11th? XD

Some of those are really tiny and SE may actually exclude them, but I'd be surprised if they didn't allow the Moongate, Sauromugue, Rolanberry, and possibly Batallia difficult-to-reach areas at least. The headstone area in Yuhtunga is pretty big, too.

Of course, there's no guarantee a tablet won't pop right by the outpost in Valkurm. But I think if you do the math, the less likely players in general are to visit a given spot, the more likely you are to find a tablet there, any time that isn't *right* after tablet spawn.

(Will anyone checking in with the explorer moogle be told the precise time when kupowers expire and tablets respawn? We'll know pretty soon.)
Defeated: Maat, Divine Might, Fenrir, Kirin, Cactrot Rapido, Xolotl, Diabolos Prime, Kurrea, 9/10 Dynamis Bosses (missing Tav), Promathia, Proto-Ultima, Proto-Omega, 4 Jailers, Apocalypse Nigh, 6/6 Nyzul Bosses
      RDM90, PLD90, DRG90, COR90, SCH90, BLU54
All Nations Rank 10, ZMs & PMs Complete, AUMs Complete, Captain, Nyzul Floor 100 (5 Weapons, 4 WS), Medal of Altana, WotG Mission 15, 1/3 Addons Complete, 9/9 Abyssea Main Quests, 6/6 Caturae

What i'm thinking is that maybe once your ring runs out, the only way it can get refreshed (or get another) is by finding a tablet again.........that sound reasonable?

PS > Swift shoes and Ease of exploration are the only server-wide bonuses that I'm ever so slightly interested in.
And ease of exploration is something SE should've added years ago and as a permanent service. So screw the bonuses, I just want the xp ring to ease the grind.

PPS > The teleport service is (if the description is right) from Selbina and Mhaura to the main cities, but not between each other or from cities to the outlands so meh anyway.

Man, if only SE would add in something to connect Selbina and Mhaura. Something you could use to leave one, and then show up in the other. Some kind of technology that would leave one port town, and go directly to the other.

Also, if it's a two way warp, warp to main city, then warp back to other port town. solved.

I know and if only SE would put outposts in the zones outside of Selbina and Mhaura, I'd quest those OPs in a heartbeat.

Ahhh using the ring to level nin again will take some of the sting out of it. Now if only I could find some unselfish people to help me get Ni... /sigh

I'm going to assume that the spot jumps around the zone and doesn't stay put for long. If it stays put then people could plot where it pops next and that would suck. If they have it be able to pop on any accessible xy then it could be anywhere. If it moves after X amount of time, just imagine finally seeing one and going to click on it and it moves! LOLOLOLOL

Right, because the travel between selbina and mhaura is instantaneous.

But no, what I meant was a way to travel between cities (at least the main 3) without having to waste so much time. And the way they worded it it seems like it will be one-way, but I hope it was just a translation mistake.

Woo. First person to have actually read the info from SE.

Anyways.. It's likely that only 11 people will get the ring every TWO weeks because it's going to take time to find these, especially once the excitement for this wears down and people stop looking. It could possibly take longer. We could go months without any bonuses if one of the tablets is in a spot that no one notices!

And you just know that some lucky douche bag is going to end up getting more than 1 Kupo ring...

                      - _ - sadly, there are people over at BG already working on bots for this. I know we already have the anni ring handed out for free, but I just don't see why the Kupo ring couldn't have been a 1-time deal for each character instead of the bloody tablets just so everyone has a decent shot at it after doing some weird moogle quest.

I mean, if they were handing out something crazy like Ridill or 100 dynamis currency then ya this would make sense but this is hardly the most damaging (in terms of game balance) item they've come up with.

I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I kind of agree with Malacite.

The Kupofried Ring is certainly not necessary by any stretch (we've gotten along just fine without it), and if 11 people per week or so are the only ones to get it, then that is also fine. But I don't think it would have been the end of the world if everyone had gotten one via a quest or something similar as a one time deal only, much like the Anniversary Ring.

That said, we likely won't be all getting one, and that's perfectly ok.

. . . though, as a qualifier, you would technically have to add "and successfully posted accordingly." I was about to post exactly that, but a ghost in the machine ate it, and I was too frustrated simultaneously with the dumbness in this thread and all that typing going for nothing that I just didn't bother doing it again. =/

I don't know what you people are talking about when you say "haven't read and don't understand fully". This thing is easy breazy to get...

From what I gleened in the translation I saw:

The K. Ring is only recieved from a tablet that only appears while the waxing moon shines at 77% drawing a shadow exactly 777 moogles long from the most Southerly-Northern hill in any given zone. That "tablet" can only be swallowed (or otherwise injested) after one has unlockt Sky, Sea, Limbus and all Nyzule floors all the while spinning 7 leaden plates on sticks while hopping on one foot singing your nation's (windy, sandy, basty) national anthem from the end in reverse emphasizing 5/4 time-signature by popping bubble gum bubbles at a steady 7 measure increments.

That from the Oompaloompa press-release translation... see it's NOT gonna be that difficult; and they told me the Shnoz-berries WILL indeed taste like Shnoz-berries.

                              ****************************************************

You forgot that you also have to solo Odin, Jormy, and PW at the same time. After that you also have to fight Altana without using any attacks. So not only is it easy breezy, its epically easy.
