    Welp, figures it was a shinny that doesn't appear all that shinny. =/
    Guess I'll give it a test run soloing in sea after hnms are done with for the day.
    All I can say, I just hope fast cast alone would at least reduce the recast timers to 'normal'.

      If that were so the penalty would not be mentioned since it wouldn't exist.

        I think he means reduce them to down to their original, 0 Fast Cast values.

        Don't hold your breath. It's kind of the whole point of the JA.

          Ya, ok I see that now, but that would also hardly be a penalty and would be worded 'negates fast cast effects' or something to that effect.

            Since we don't have anything better to do, let's take bets and guesses. I call:
            Acc+20, elemental resistance -30, doubled White Magic self-buff duration, doubled recast timers, up to x1.5 Enspell I damage after enough successive hits.

                SMN turns into a monster at endgame. You get the power you seek, its buffs that are SMN's weakness and what really needs to be fixed. That appears to be just what they're doing. Also, Physical attacks should miss at times, just ask any melee.

                  Doing 506 damage on Kirin with Nether Blast?

                      SMN is kinda meh at endgame. Sure, it does decent spike damage but the fact that your BP can miss if someone moves the mob "just so" is retarded. Always thought losing TP for shit like that with melee WS was retarded, too. I see some LSes use them on HNMs, and it's really just a "hey, we're playing it safe cause our avatars don't pull hate off our shitty tanks and our BLMs would" kind of thing. Also, BPs seem to get resisted less than BLMs on some HNMs, and you'd be amazed how many BLMs don't have an elemental set for certain mobs that are highly resistant to spell damage.

                      If the merit BPs turn out to be worthwhile I'll unlock them, as of right now, though, I've got better things to merit.

                        There is possible a reason that S-E brought particular attention to Hastega. Maybe because that at merit levels, Summoners essentially become the underused but indisputable kings of Haste? >_>

                        Seriously, even with how crappy the skill over cap crap is, any Summoner worth their salt should be able to easily out-Haste a White Mage or Red Mage. If all that's needed is the whoring of the Haste, just simply Hastega and rest up. If someone actually gets hit, subbed Cure and Regen should make them not die if they're smart.

                            Mmkay. After thinking about it I could see myself using Enwater II or Enaero II while tanking and meleeing Ultima or Omega. Can't really speak to other applications because of my limited experience but I would basically have to be tanking something high level before I ever saw that resistance down effect being useful.

                            As to the situations I'm normally meleeing in, I wonder how Enspell IIs are going to pan out. They would basically need to do 50 damage per hit or more to make up for the initial attacks only business. I wonder if initial attacks only applies to the second hit when dual wielding. Not that I usually /nin for melee, but I wish this was more compatible with the sexy joy/justice combo I love so much. I wonder if wielding a single e.sword, blau or hornetneedle will become preferable to joytoy after this. I guess it might be time to start camping Bune again.

                              Wait, doesnt the "only on initial attack" refer to weapons that proc multi hit? I would think the en-spell 2 would last as long, if not longer than your initial en-spells?

                                It seems like it will work like Steps, but lets just hope the effect window lasts longer as it isn't rare for me to lose Steps when casting and doing other things.

                                Also I guess it wont stack with DA (trait) either huh.
