Holy is Afflatus Solace. Ergo, it has the potential to be actually useful now.

I hope the BLM update isn't this terrible, I'm expecting something retarded like Scythe skill cap increased to B+ and en-dark, lol, I really am. SE just doesn't get it.

It is evident the FFXI community is starving for updates and willing to take anything, if blizzard pulled a shitty update like this on the healing classes of WoW there would be an uproar.
I'm wondering if you actually play WHM, or if you just think you know what a WHM does/needs without actually having any experience with it.

Esuna will be VERY useful in Einherjar and Dynamis. Auspice will also be VERY nice on big fights where feeding TP to mobs is not beneficial (Seriously, Fulmination sucks balls, and when we're low on stunners, it will be useful). It's even useful without the JA that it corresponds to. Sacrifice? I can find several uses for that.

Sure, some of this stuff is for being "up close" with the mob. I don't care about the added Enlight, really. It might be fun, but the real benefit to using Auspice is the Subtle Blow, with or without the added benefits. But how can you say that none of this stuff is useful. How are lowered MP costs not useful? How is lowered level for the use of RR not useful? I always thought it was dumb that I could raise others at 25 but not myself.

What the fuck were you honestly expecting from a WHM update? I'd love to hear your genius input, I'm sure it will blow us all away. I'm actually quite excited to see how these abilities are going to pan out.

          Things that don't suck?

Just think of anything that doesn't suck.

Healing Magic Bonus traits - equivalent to magic atk bonus for healing spells
          AOE Repose
Auto-refresh trait, SMN job is a complete joke and needs a makeover and nobody subs it anymore anyway.
          Hastega
If they were going to add en-light, it should be for the whole group, not just the WHM, that's retarded
          Ability to remove amnesia

There is alot of things that it could use, I just made that up in a minute. THAT would be stuff to get excited about, I would shit my pants for hastega, not for that lame shit you guys are raving about.

I don't see one *unless* it works on afflictions not otherwise removable, like Terror (well, maybe if you have another healer, otherwise terrifying yourself to un-terrify the tank might not work out so great) or better yet, Amnesia (don't really care about it on yourself, but getting it off melees is nice).

Sure, some of this stuff is for being "up close" with the mob. I don't care about the added Enlight, really. It might be fun, but the real benefit to using Auspice is the Subtle Blow, with or without the added benefits.
Maybe it's intended to make it so WHMs can actually go do Campaign or FoV. Next up: melee BRD update? (New ability: make your next song double strength, but self only. Short enough recast that you can keep 2 double-strength songs on yourself continuously, if you're not busy pulling or lullabying or buffing a party. Then put on some attack gear and food, cast double-strength march and madrigal on yourself and sub DNC...)

I'm curious about the how exactly the non-cumulativity of Misery will work. Maybe they'll make it so weaker hits don't downgrade it, but only the single strongest hit (since the last time you activated it/used it up) counts. Otherwise, it would be pretty easy to get hit for 3 during your cast and there goes your bonus. (Hopefully they won't make it so weaker hits downgrade it *and* DoT/Sublimation ticks count as a "hit", which would really cripple the ability. Although I guess there's nobody better at removing DoTs than a WHM, so if you choose to leave them on, you have only yourself to blame.)

I'm a bit surprised nobody else has pointed out what the name of Cura implies. -ga spells are AoE *around a selected target* (Firaga, Curaga, Banishga). -ra spells are AoE *around the caster* (Protectra, Barstonra... I don't think there are any black magic examples.) If Cura follows that pattern, it would be quite different from Curagas, even aside from the Misery bonus (which probably is intended to let you counter an AoE - you just got hit by it, now use the Misery bonus to cure the damage from yourself *and* everyone else).
Defeated: Maat, Divine Might, Fenrir, Kirin, Cactrot Rapido, Xolotl, Diabolos Prime, Kurrea, 9/10 Dynamis Bosses (missing Tav), Promathia, Proto-Ultima, Proto-Omega, 4 Jailers, Apocalypse Nigh, 6/6 Nyzul Bosses
                  RDM90, PLD90, DRG90, COR90, SCH90, BLU54
All Nations Rank 10, ZMs & PMs Complete, AUMs Complete, Captain, Nyzul Floor 100 (5 Weapons, 4 WS), Medal of Altana, WotG Mission 15, 1/3 Addons Complete, 9/9 Abyssea Main Quests, 6/6 Caturae

Re: Job Adjustments and Additions Part I (03/26/2009) [WHM]

Hastega would be broken as hell.

Why do I need HMB (so to speak), when I've got gear that tops my Cure V's over 1100 HP anyway? AoE Repose? We have BRDs and BLMs for that. And honestly, if you need Auto Refresh as a WHM you're doing it wrong.

Next you're going to be saying that RDMs should get Breakga and Refreshga. Meanwhile, I've been praying and hoping SE would give me some way to compete with Accession + -na, and now they seem to have done so, without requiring me to upgrade Yagrush. That enough is win in my book, if you've ever been WHM in Einherjar with ghosts spamming Curse, Dogs spamming paralyze and attack down, or pretty much any annoying ass mob in Einherjar (all of them), you'd be singing SE's praises along with anyone else.

Seriously, people get overly excited about shit they know is never going to happen, I'm over here practically kissing SE's feet because I have more opportunities to AoE status cure. I don't want Hastega. I've never wanted it. It would probably cost as much - or MORE - mp as casting Haste numerous times, and with the way melees run around in Dynamis, you'd miss half the fucking party anyway, meaning you'd need to spend MORE mp to Haste the ones you missed. FUCK THAT. The duration wouldn't change, only the annoyance. It's bad enough that I can say in party chat, "Protectra/Shellra" and they still fucking run away, and if you think they'll stand still for Haste, think again. Not only that, if I have a RDM in my party, it's his god damn job to Haste, perhaps I'll get one melee but he's getting most of them. Give Hastega to the RDMs. I don't want it.

Really, nothing you've listed really sounds like what WHMs, as a whole, would want. I have never ever wanted Hastega nor do I think I desperately need it. AoE Repose just sounds like a good way to get your WHMs killed, and let me tell you how much it sucks to get up and continue curing people with a weakened recast timer. And Auto Refresh? Would be nice, but not at all necessary for me to successfully keep people alive. And as for amnesia removal, well, perhaps Esuna will do that. I really don't think it's that terrible that you can't WS for 30 seconds until it wears. Actually, it keeps some of the dumber melees alive longer. (lol)

I'm more than happy to accept what SE gave me here. And really, all of this is moot until we know how everything plays exactly.

                      Ok, now sacrifice makes sense.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not exactly complaining. The stoneskin thing is pretty cool, there's clearly a power level increase, and it seems to mix things up for what has been, to me, a pretty boring job so far. I dunno, I guess these changes just seem kinda out of left field. Don't ask me what I was expecting; I honestly had no idea what SE would do to buff whms. But for example, I thought one of the main complaints about whm in the current party dogma is that they lack stamina for long chains. Did /sch pretty much cover that? If it's still an issue then this update doesn't seem to touch on it.

I'm hardly a whm extraordinaire so if my opinions seem off base, it would be completely fair to discount them.

As for the hypothetical rdm update I'd be satisfied if we got enspell IIs and pretty much nothing else. If the trend continues though, maybe we'll get some kind of frontline/backline "stance" JAs as well? That would be pretty neat.
