For a COR and RNG wouldn't the piece with:

+5 str +5 dex +5 agi
(augmented with) +10 racc +10 ratt

be the best piece for melee'ing? And best piece for WS's except for osode?

Well, first off, only RNG could wear Osode and unless they have Ridill or K. Club, they likely will not be meleeing much, so +10 Accuracy is meaningless to them. Osode is more than a WS piece, too, its also for thier MND builds for Holy Bolts.

COR would be the one that melees, given Joytoy is much easier to come by as multihit weapons go. Ranged attack is nice, but wouldn't boost weaponskill that notably. If a COR didn't have Joyeuse, I guess the Snapshot +5% would be decent, but I'd still snicker at them in passing since it wouldn't diminish the delay enough to be worth it.

If I were doing it strictly for COR I would want the MAB +4% and QD Delay -5 to make it more of a QD piece, but I think +5% Snapshot and +10 Ranged Attack for my RNG is the better deal.

I think ultimately the choices you make on these pieces would be ones that make your merits more potent. I could reduce my QD recast to 45 seconds on COR with full recast merits and this trait or raise my Snapshot potential to 30% on RNG before gear outside the Mirke

yeah, ranged attack and ranged accuracy is what i refering to. I used the word melee and thats where BBQ missed my meaning. I said melee, but I meant shooting bullets. Technically shooting is still meleeing right? It's just melee'ing with marksmanship skill instead of dagger or sowrd skill. Semantics...

Anyways, yes, would the +5 str +5 agi +5 dex augmented with +10 ranged accuracy +10 ranged attack be the best piece for marksmanship for cor?

For Cor, yes by far. What's the other piece Cor uses? Denali? yea, you would lose 5 Agi, but the replacement of 5 Str would definately end up being better. Then the R. Acc would just blow it away.

He was suggesting it for both COR and RNG, which perform differently at 75.

Ideally, COR would be swining a Joyeuse and what good is Ranged attack when you TP with sword. But given the fuckwits that CORs are in general, I won't be surprised that they slap on -5 enmity and "Enhances Dual Wield" effect +3 since most of them sub /NIN or /WHM all the time.

If you're RNG, though, what good would +10 Ranged Accuracy do you? You're practically capped for accuracy as is and have plenty of body pieces to cover that angle. Passing up +5% Snapshot would be insanity.

Snapshot tends to be pointless for COR, given that ideally they'll be meleeing for TP at 70+. Delay doesn't impact the speed of weapon skills. As I said before, were I to craft this in favor of COR, I'd do it for Quick Draw -5 Recast and MAB +4%.

A lot of these stats are more meaningful if you stack them on the merits you've given a particular job, so that's how I would approach it.

When compared to that, the Royal Redingote is a far more beautiful piece in both aesthetic and statistic. The Redingote isn't even that ugly in the first place.

Sure, we may have gotten the "magey" piece this time again, but I have become enamored with S-E after considering one of the many wonderful implications of the Augments system: we could make our own front-line/hybrid gear. Personally, for the Redingote, I'd put the +10 Accuracy and +4 Magic Accuracy on there, so that it would practically match the Houppelande in Magic Benefits and most Red Mage bodies in Physical Benefit.

Oh, and side note: Armando pointed out to me that White Mages with the Redingote can basically best their Reverend Mail with it.

Actually the Royal is starting to grow on me, the more I look at it. I didn't like it at first.

I still don't know what I'd put on it, though. Might turn it into a SMN body so I don't have to get Yinyang.

You're looking at it the wrong way.

This piece can be augmented to have +10 Acc +3% Dual weild, which for a RDM/Nin is better than a SH+1 (You CAN go Hauby -1 on this, but RDM benefits more from delay reduction due to enspell usage.) DA, Attack, or Crit hit are good alternatives if you don't /nin often.

Yeah, if I use the armor for RDM I'll probably go with +10 acc and DA so I could stack it with Brutal and other subs like /war, since I don't have Joy.

(Or something like that. Haven't played for a while and I'm starting to forget things already so I don't remember if those actually stack.)

Also very important, no matter what I pick I'll probably .dat swap.

Magic damage = (Spell's base damage + difference between your int and the mob's int) x MAB x staff x weather and such. Base damage for Blizzard III is 320, so with 20 more int than the target and an NQ staff you get 436 damage. Adding 10 int gives you 477 damage. Adding 5 MAB instead would give 482 damage. Adding both 5 int and 4 MAB from an augmented redingote would bring it up to 485 damage. This is assuming pretty poor nuking gear in the first place but as you can see on higher tier nukes MAB will give you much more bang for buck than int.

That makes sense. I'll have to keep that in mind. In that case, I may just have to upgrade my Moldy to a Novio one of these days. Would benefit both my RDM and BLU's nuking and future COR's Quick Draw damage.

The relationship between int/mnd and magic acc has not been well established. 2 stat = 1 acc assumes that magic and melee behave the same way, which there doesn't seem to be any reason to believe. A melee swing takes four stats into consideration after all whereas magic only uses two. It's hard to present real data about magic acc but I don't buy that theory.

And considering RDM is the only job that lacks magic accuracy, it is frustrating that there really isn't much data on it. I have, however, seen a noticeable difference of debuffs landing as well as unresisted nukes land on mobs with an omega ring equipped. Even here the problem presents itself- lack of real data about magic acc.

At any rate, Redingote with +4 MAB and +4 magic acc seems like a slight upgrade from errant and yigit for nuking. My problem with trying to replace errant is that there's nothing better for para/slow/stoneskin but that's another story.

I'd say W.Body just to raise the eyebrows of the BRDs who long for Osode.
