Mar. 17, 2009 05:00 [PDT] From: FINAL FANTASY XI

Suspension of Character Creation on Bahamut World (Mar. 17)

Due to the drastic increase in the population of the Bahamut World, we have decided to suspend the following operations to prevent any further increase in the population of the Bahamut world.

    - Transferring character(s) to the Bahamut world using the World Transfer Service
    - Creating new character(s) on the Bahamut world
    - Issuing Gold World Passes in the Bahamut world

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding.

Also we have decided to invite players to emigrate to the below listed worlds. If you wish to emigrate, please follow the instructions below and apply as soon as possible.

In case the emigration campaign and the above measures have no effect on the congestion of the Bahamut world, measures such as forced transfers to other worlds or splitting the Bahamut world into a number of separate worlds may be considered.

    * If you wish to emigrate, please refer to "World Emigration Guidelines" and apply as soon as possible.

    * World Emigration differs from the World Transfer service in that there will be no need to purchase a World Transfer, and the 90-day exclusion from the World Transfer service will not apply.

    * Characters who have already used the World Transfer service within the last 90 days will still be able to participate in World Emigration, but the 90-day exclusion from the World Transfer service will still continue.

    [World Emigration Guidelines]

    Applicable Worlds:
    -Bahamut World

    Application Period:
    From Mar. 17, 2009 5:00 (PDT) to Mar. 31, 2009 8:00 (PDT)

    Destination Worlds:
    -Pandemonium World
    -Garuda World
    -Kujata World
    -Seraph World
    -Lakshmi World
    -Midgardsormr World
    -Fairy World
    -Asura World
    -Remora World
    -Hades World

    Emigration Schedule:

World emigration will coincide with the upcoming version update scheduled to be performed in early April. Following version update, emigrating characters will be transferred to their designated Worlds.

[How to apply for World emigration]

When the application period begins, an NPC called the World Shifter will appear in each of the following areas. By talking to this NPC, you can apply for or cancel World emigration, and confirm your character's emigration status. Please read the World Shifter's responses carefully before submitting an application.

    Ru'Lude Gardens (I-10)
    Port San d'Oria (I-8)
    Port Bastok (L-8)
    Windurst Walls (G-6)

    * Note: After the application deadline, you will be unable to make any further requests for World emigration.

How to confirm your World emigration status:

During the application period, a login message will appear indicating your World emigration status. If you are already logged in, you can view this message by entering "/smes". Please be sure to confirm your status before the end of the application period.

    * Message displayed when applying for World emigration:
"You have submitted an application for World emigration."

    * Message displayed when not applying for World emigration:
"You have not submitted an application for World emigration."

    [Important Reminders]

If you are considering applying for World emigration, please read the following points and apply early to ensure a smooth transition.

    When emigrating:
Emigration of characters is done one character at a time, not one PlayOnline ID at a time. If you request emigration for any of your other characters, please conduct all applications separately.

    Character name:
If your character happens to have the same name as another player in the destination World, you will have to change your name before entering that World. If you need to change your name, your name will be shown in yellow, and you must follow the on-screen instructions. This name change will not affect your Friend List.

    Delivery Box/Auction items:
All items up for auction and in your Delivery Box will be lost when you emigrate. Please collect these items before moving. Any items in your inventory and Mog Safe will be transported with you to the new world.

    Regarding used linkshells:
Linkpearls or pearlsacks cannot be transferred over and will be destroyed in the emigration process. However, the linkshell owner will automatically receive a new unopened linkshell upon arrival in the new World.

Regarding the exchange of old linkshells with unopened linkshells:
If a linkshell owner emigrates, the player's old linkshell will be deactivated and a new unopened linkshell will be automatically provided. If you have an unused linkshell, you may bring it to the new World.

I'm not surprised, lots of people seem to believe they'll be better off being on one of the most populated servers. It may even be better at low levels ... but merits and endgame must be evil. I wonder if there are any sort of server numbers to give an idea of what is crowded and what isn't.

Hmm I just joined Bahamut 3 weeks ago, but I have noticed that all of a sudden the ? were every where in bastok and the bastok gates had about a dozen people running around attacking Quadavs to early. Hmm I already joined a link shell so maybe I shouldn't switch, but since I don't plan on using a mule anyway it won't effect me much I guess.

Asura seems to be the next on the hit-list, but it still has some time. I saw this comin a mile away, ever since people on BG claimed to have gotten the "server is full" messages a few weeks back on Bahamut.

I really hope they don't end up relying on forced emigration or splitting the world. Imagine the chaos that would cause!

I say just keep em closed and let em stew in their own pot, they're free to leave whenever they want.

Shame that FFXI isn't large enough to start merging worlds. Maybe SE should expand Jeuno--

                * Create a fourth 'bridge' zone, heading to Qufim, replacing the tunnel. Nobody will miss that run of hell anyway, and it can be repurposed for quests.
                * Rename the areas. Call the new area "Low Jeuno bridge", Lower Jeuno "Middle Jeuno bridge", and Upper Jeuno "Upper Jeuno Bridge"
                * Flesh out the inner areas of the city, making four new areas inside the city. "Low inner Jeuno", etc. Have Port Jeuno also link to Middle Jeuno, since an inner port wouldn't make much sense.

Add AH to all of the new areas, along with other facilities. Have the old mog house zones be zones to the inner areas, move the mog houses to just inside the the new areas so it's not much harder to travel around. Maybe borrow some of Windurst's transportarus. The only change Ru'Lude would need is a staircase to Upper Inner Jeuno. Relatively simple changes, and you've just doubled Jeuno from being four areas (Gardens, Upper, Lower, Port) to eight (Gardens, Upper bridge, Upper inner, Middle bridge, Middle inner, Port, Lower bridge, Lower inner). Put focus back onto it as the major city, and high server populations become that much less of an issue. It could even be done in stages, over updates instead of all at once, in game just talk about a Jeuno Restoration Project or something. Of course, larger server mergers would definitely require more leveling, crafting, NM, and so on space to share, but it's a good start.

But doing that for one town won't help the over population though. It will cut lag, and give people more places to hang out while LFP which would be cool, but the actually enviorments people constantly use will still be flooded. I realized this week end Dunes was over booked by like 3 parties every mob type. It was so bad a party would get one lizard out of the group spawn. I walked by the crabs to respond to a help request on a merc gob. There were three parties fishing out crabs and pugils along the wall.

The issue is people level at the same places with the easist mobs, and least chance of death. A party of wanted to do snips could easily go to pashow but its so forgien and not mentioned in any of the guides. So I get WHAT!!! I DONT WANT TO DIE!! STFU NOOB so now we are waiting 15 minutes for our puller to pull a liz because all lizards on both sides of the tunnel we being eaten by soloers trying to cap from the lost due to sync parties, and and xpers. So I moved found a eager replacement for dd and bailed to K highlands. Not to mention the effects on the economy which i will not go into because i hated micro and macro

But next time I'm making a Pashow party I hate waiting in parties its like a nm hunt with no drops, required but depressing all the same.

Does Asura have the same "Lets all go there so we can find pick up groups" aura about it that Odin did? I'm thinking Bahamut got so large partly because BG draws so many end game hopefuls.

After Odin closed, people looked to the next largest server, which was Bahamut. Now that Bahamut is down, people will be looking towards the next next largest server, and that's Asura apparently.

Just a little message to anyone considering a transfer or creating a new character in the future:

Stay the hell away from Fenrir!

And if you need any more motivation to skip the server I'll just tell you this:

Feba used to play there and if we are unlucky he will probably stay there if he ever goes back to the game. So scram.
