I'm just waiting for someone to rant about how they lost their Scorpion Harness due to SE's crappy game design

Here's an interesting thought. Suppose the chance of an item dropping depends on the level or resale value of the equipment traded. Some of those junk BCNM/KSNM drops like Durandal that people tend to vendor now might be recycled into this.

Just thinking randomly at work, lol.

          Pfff.

At 150k-200k on the AH, while it may not be super expensive anymore it's still expensive enough.

I wonder if this means "non-disposable" crafts may end up being worth leveling by virtue of the equipment that is promised by proxy. This is to say that S-E may have thought of a way of partially breaking the whole "buy equipment on the AH, resell it back to the AH when done" cycle.

Not likely, but I may just have seen crazier speculations in this very thread.

I'm hoping SE puts the "bet" in some scale with reward. I'm fine with the Gil and Beastmen Seal bets, but good gear should be offered up for something better, not some lame POS in exchange for something better.

At least, that's what my Corsair senses want to say.

I wonder if, in the long term, this will see BCNM loot start to recover its value, as more people spend their BS on FoV instead of flooding the AH with more and more BCNM drops. Everything but the ultra-rares is pretty much junk, even useful pieces with good stats, because it's just so damn common.

I also wonder whether that fat guy in Jeuno will cough up the seals I already gave him so I can use them for FoV, or if all those are going to be locked in and I can only use *new* seals for FoV. And how many experience points will a seal be worth if you win the resulting fight, anyway? 10? 100? 1000? This could be a *huge* increase in effective exp rate for jobs that routinely solo and keep all their seals like BST and PUP - not just the FoV bonuses, but converting as many seals as you want to exp, too.

I think YM's idea of having this system "eat" gear that there's just too freaking much of is basically a good idea, but didn't they already do that once with guild points? If you think it didn't work that time, why would this be any different?

P.S. Next update CoP areas? Tavnazian Archipelago, Carpenters' Landing, Uleguerand, Bibiki, Attohwa?
Defeated: Maat, Divine Might, Fenrir, Kirin, Cactrot Rapido, Xolotl, Diabolos Prime, Kurrea, 9/10 Dynamis Bosses (missing Tav), Promathia, Proto-Ultima, Proto-Omega, 4 Jailers, Apocalypse Nigh, 6/6 Nyzul Bosses
                      RDM90, PLD90, DRG90, COR90, SCH90, BLU54
All Nations Rank 10, ZMs & PMs Complete, AUMs Complete, Captain, Nyzul Floor 100 (5 Weapons, 4 WS), Medal of Altana, WotG Mission 15, 1/3 Addons Complete, 9/9 Abyssea Main Quests, 6/6 Caturae

I don't think most of the high-end CoP zones would be practical additions, but I see no reason not to include Tavnazia Archipelago and Carpenter's Landing in the scheme of FoV. Bibki Bay and Ule range have a massive level disparity, as does Attowah Chasm. Sea just wouldn't be practical since not all jobs function equally there. That is, unless SE wants to be nice and let me at least charm goldfish.

I actually levelled a couple low jobs in Carpenter's Landing, it was a great BST camp in the mid-teens. Not a bad spot at all, save for that one bomb bobbling about.

I don't see FoV in most of the CoP zones but Lufaise ... it's where the OP is, after all. Granted, having FoV only in zones with OPs has made an unholy mess of Qufim, but that's the way it seems to go...

Something tells me that the whole "trade Beastmen's Seals for an NM that awards exp once a day" thing is not going to go over so well. There are already many more methods of gaining exp than there are methods of getting Beastmen's Seals, and heck, by proxy, by getting Beastmen's Seals, you're already getting exp in the first place. By contrast, by just how many ways can you access BCNMs?

In the update notes, they covered this by saying that they would add Field Manuals to non-OP areas. When I had read the first area "East Ronfaure," at first I was like, "buh?", but as I kept reading, I was eventually like, "oh!"

Because the rewards might be worth it this time?

It all hinges on what the rewards are relative to the gear traded, and since we don't know the rewards, we can't dismiss the notion yet.

That too depends on how much EXP is given per seal. Although I get the feeling that you're right; since BCNMs have such high potential monetary rewards, the amount of EXP given probably won't justify using them that way.

Put one in my bazaar for max gil once and it disappeared. Does that count? Once I macro'd out my sword and shield, as a paladin, to rest with a dark staff, and when I macro'd them back in only the sword was equipped. I checked my inventory and THE SHIELD WAS GOOOOOONE.

                                Cue creepy or mysterious music.
