We are gathered here today to mourn the passing of a generation. Today has been an introspective take on how many of us react to death; Some were exuberant, some were angry. Many were in denial, and many came to piss on the graves of the recently deceased. But more than anything

I feel liberated.

There was possibly no better way to go, in a biblical purging of the endgame community that stretches far beyond the elite of our corner of the world. Like the meteor that extinguished in an instant the giants of our planet millions of years ago, there will still be a tomorrow. A philosophical T-Rex would be wrong to think "There will be no future without me," but he would not be incorrect to think "The future will never be the same." I leave without regrets, I am not remorseful of my 'crime.' I have walked the line between 'risk' and 'success' before, and sometimes you have to pay the price for the risks you take. If I was offered life again if I said "I am sorry," I would not do it. I have tried to quit before, but like a prisoner who has gotten too used to 'the life on the inside,' I always returned. Even with the keys to my cell, it took destroying the prison to finally be free.

As for the 'righteous' who now brand themselves over the 'exiled,' if you were given the knowledge can you honestly say you would not have acted the same? People are weak, and more often than not give in to temptation. You should not brand yourself as people of 'superior morals', but rather, of 'fortunate ignorance'. That said, I encourage other 'unfortunate' people to come forward if they chose. We should not be mourning our departure, but celebrating our freedom.

So one last farewell then.

I was just hanging out with Edge and Aretha Franklin when I got word of the bans in FFXI last evening. Its unfortunate that the few think they're so righteous when the many have put up with their shit for so long.

Oh, sorry, I said "shit" again. Not supposed to do that. Oh well, fuck it.

Now various servers face a bold new future, free from the lies and scandals of the past five years. Perhaps now, Titan will no longer be a home of ass-hattery and people can join hands with their fellow man to claim Fafnir fairly without third party tools. Perhaps now, the Pandemonium Warden will be faced with pride and heroism instead of people reaching for that logout button. Perhaps now, we can start having picnics with Marinara Pizza +1s and endgame can be fun again.

Mourn not the passing of the elite, but rise up and face the future with hope. As Aretha has always said, its about respect. Show respect to your fellow man and the game.

I actually sort of agree with the 'you'd have done it if you knew about it' philosophy. Then again, if 'everyone' knew it would have gotten fixed before it was an issue. Most of them simply signed their own death warrants by not reporting it initially.

Oh well, at least Valefor is famous for something now. lol
