Rule of thumb: If they call themselves "Veteran" or "Pro," that's moron for "I'm a real noob." Also, if they have to tell you they're going to get "laid" by "some chick" that means whacking off to hentai in their parent's basement. Stalking some poor Asian girl in the manga section of Barnes and Noble is probably the closest thing they know to the touch of a woman.

I honestly just can't feel sorry for any of these people. There are those of us who can't even do these events, and would love to have the gear, but won't ever see them mainly because play times just don't match up. These idiots decide to go and exploit a loophole to get more out of these than they should. What truly sucks is that some of the names up there are of those that have done a lot to help the playerbase's understanding of the game. Also puts into question the recent Mythic aquisitions, as well as the integrity of a lot Relic owners as well, seeing as the most current count of Relics lost to this sweep (as of this post) stands at 47. I can imagine a few of those were Bonanza Relics, too.

I wouldn't be surprised to find out Jackyl did indeed get his Mythic legitimately, but SE decided to get him anyways for beating the Japanese to being first to own a Mythic. Same deal with Apathy and PW, if any of them got hit with the banhammer.

I would doubt very much he got it legit unless his LS has been holding Alex for awhile. He'd need either to have alot of funding/be filthy rich to buy enough alex, or have abunch of Salvage groups supply him with Alex from their runs in the timeframe he got it. Neither is impossible for someone in his position, but considering it's easier to just dupe alex at the time then I wouldn't hold my tongue.

I still can't bring myself to feel sympathy. Lots of people could have brought the same knowledge to the game as these people have, the sad part is that their knowledge of the game has been trumped by obsession and greed.

Yes, SE makes things hard to get in endgame. If everyone got stuff easily, nothing would be rare or special anymore. Hell, being on Odin and seeing all these people who transfer over in endgame gear makes for a big inferiority complex for some of the newer players here.

But its not SE's fault these people fall into the sad addictive side of the game. These are the sort of people that make me keep my distance from endgame to start with and what makes me continue to pursue endgame only in spurts than full time. I'd rather play offline games at times just so I don't have to deal with the bullshit.

Also, I hate to sound like I'm gloating but FFXI's first Sash-bearer supposedly got the ban. All the leaders in is old LS got the ban, too.

I'm right with ya there, BBQ. I'm just saying it sucks that the same people that helped out with research and information were also some of the same people that ultimately let greed get the better of them.

On a scary somewhat-related side note, having recently gotten back to Kujata, these past few weeks have put me in a rather unusual position: I'm often the most well-geared and experienced player in the linkshells I'm in. It's not that I'm gloating, but it's something I didn't expect to ever happen. This wave of bannings certainly might not help the situation (but then again, it might).

I can kinda see where the whole "the experience is gone" angle is coming from, but I doubt it's anything to get too worried over. I mean, shit, where was the experience when the current EG community was first getting into EG themselves? Exactly.
