You don't like Treasure Caskets or Fields of Valor?

and yea.. they never said anything about perma-BST pets. They said something about them lvling up like Wyverns somewhat... but never anything about perma-pets

I'm annoyed at the blood etc. nerf, too. Not because I ever actually farm blood anymore (leech beach on Fenrir is always too crowded and that's the only source that's any good for my level). But because I love inflation. Inflation rocks, and I want more of it, not less.

What? Aren't all those things kind of... not based on chance in any way?

The STF was doing a good job of getting rid of the RMT farmers, I don't know why they had to slap us with this. The Coast has been downright empty the last few months because the STF was doing its job. This newest change which screws over the legit players as well as the RMT is BULLSHIT, and I'm quite angry about it.
Yes, SE gives no thought at all to anything. They went out of their way to screw you.

Lets actually think about this for a moment.

RMT is a problem. SE has done many things to deal with exploits, and prevent bots from fishing. So now RMT players turn back to farming. That means they have to sell things. There are two ways of doing this in the game, on the AH or to NPC's. On the AH you have to wait for it to sell and have to compete with other sellers. For a legitimate player, this is part of the game and a legitimate player shouldn't be as impacted by waiting to sell items they have farmed since a legitimate player has many other activities in the game they also will be participating in.

A RMT player on the other hand, can not wait. They need their gil now. It needs to sell now because they are going to be going back and farming 24/7. They need those funds on hand to be able to sell them. This makes selling on the AH a large liability. So they NPC their drops.

This can be fixed 2 ways. Lower the drop rates of exploited items to the point that it is not profitable to spend time getting the items, or lower the sell price of the dropped items to make it not profitable to spend time getting huge quantities of the item.

The first options screws many more things as items will no longer worth trying to farm. Stock of the item disappears and anything that is crafted with that item also disappears. This would be far too drastic a measure to take when one of the points of the game is a player run economy. Unless of course the drop rate is already crazy high but even then it would have to be lowered to an extreme amount before it became unprofitable to a team of people who do nothing but farm it.

The second option targets RMT activities much more directly with far less collateral damage. The price on the AH will hardly be changed, so legitimate players can continue to sell there and crafters continue to have the supply to make the finished products people are using. Also, legitimate players also have an easier time finding other methods of gil making as they do not have to farm enough to be able to sell X millions of gil a week. The needs for extremely fast gil making are just not the same as a group of people that are making their living this way.

Any change is going to affect both legitimate players as well as RMT. This can not be helped. As far a game is concerned, there is no difference between the two.

Re: The December Version Update Cometh! (12/09/2008)

What I'm trying to say though is that it stopped being a problem, at least on Hades. I continuously reported the farmers in Misareaux every time they popped up, and they're gone now. If the STF was doing its job and getting rid of the farmers, why can't they just let the legit players continue to make gil?

I realize they could have nerfed the drops, and yes that would have sucked. But like someone on BG said, the more they nerf ways for legit players to make gil, the more legit players are going to feel like they can't make it on their own and go buy it from the RMT, which only ESCALATES the problem, not fixes it. SE can be pretty dumb about shit. I don't buy gil but the thought's crossed my mind more than once. I'm sure I'm not the only one. I have borrowed a hefty sum from my boyfriend to buy something in game and the easiest way I've known to be able to pay him back is farming. Farming shit to sell at the AH means I need multiple Jeuno mules to sell it all, and I can only farm once per inventory fill up, because then I have to go through the process of sending it all to my mules and putting it up on the AH, and then fucking waiting. If I can NPC it then I can go right back out and continue to make more gil.

SE wants us to stimulate the AH and the economy but gil doesn't just fall out of the skies for some of us. Only those who had money before the mass RMT exodus still have any now, and the rest struggle to get by while the rich get richer. Those of us who found a good farming niche were able to make even reasonable amounts of gil this way and possibly keep up with endgame expectations (hell, that's why I make gil, anyway, to keep up with what's expected of me to gear myself) now, well, I guess it's back to constantly being broke. Fun.

I'm sorry, but I don't think it was reasonable for SE to nerf sale prices on shit like this. The STF was getting rid of the farmers and it seemed perfectly fine to me, but apparently I don't know anything about this game. :/

It looks like the NPC prices on those things has been cut in half. That's the case with Leech Saliva, Bird Blood, and Beast Blood at least, according to the wiki.

Re: The December Version Update Cometh! (12/09/2008)

SE's damned if they do and damned if they don't. People will bitch to high hell when the RMT dominate a zone. But then if SE takes a step in the right direction, the people that use the same advantage, scream bloody murder.

As far as my outlook on the rest:

Why is changing the outpost warp guy's location a good thing? Right now if I use a coin to warp to my hometown from WG, I warp in RIGHT NEXT TO THE DAMN OUTPOST GUY!....not to mention near the signet guy too...../sigh.

Jeuno to WG guy....about friggin time!

Now I wonder if, with the change on the popping the coffers/chests, when you leave the area does the delay for getting items/gil from them go away?

YAY to the level sync change where you don't lose your buffs/tp when someone levels!

YAY hMP has been added to level sync!

WHAT!? Someone won't be able to raise someone that I've already raised!!? I don't need to post {Raise} >>> <t> into the ls chat and be ignored anymore!?? WHAT!? /em passes out!

YAY! 50% off armor storage fees!!

              RERAISE DOESN'T GET DISPELLED!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOT!

So, how much are the those items selling for now?

Killing Demons was one of the few "farming activities" I could tolerate in XI so with that gone and no way to fight BCs I doubt I'll be able to make much gil if I come back. Granted, it wasn't very profitable but at least it wasn't as boring for me as other gil-making activities in the game.

I remember when harvesting was profitable, man those were the days...

If this is the case then my days of spending time killing demons are over, unless I'm there leveling my new NPC or something.

What? The fact that SE is actually testing something before they release it? Yeah, that strikes me as a bit odd.

As a QA Tester for a gaming company... I completely understand this. Sometimes things happen that can not be explained and rather than releasing a completely bugged feature into a game which may cause a crash, the company will hold off and release it later so they can fix the issues.

Im not saying that every game and every feature is without bugs, but at the same time... you would be surprised at what DOESNT make the game. People complain too much about "OMFG This thing happened to me and its retarded and they should have fixed that before releasing the game etc." It is ALOT harder than it sounds. In order to meet deadlines, they push the games out as fast as possible that way it doesnt cost them money and legal issues. Thankfully, Square doesnt have to worry to much about this problem because they are the ones making their deadlines.

So I for one am happy as hell they are retracting it for further testing. Fix the shit now so I can enjoy it later! =)

Q:Can we have a hairdresser NPC, allowing players to change their hairstyle?
A:It is technically possible to change hairstyle/color and face type. They are discussing how/if to implement this. No additional colors or styles would be possible other than from character creation options.
They said they'd look into doing it 5 months ago. Maybe they just decided not to? SE has never exactly been an open book as far as development decisions go.
