Re: The December Version Update Cometh! (12/09/2008)

moving the bastok OP npc was a good idea anyway, now I don't have to run to the gate guard in bastok markets, then back to the metal works. Man he was way out of the way before.

Why is changing the outpost warp guy's location a good thing? Right now if I use a coin to warp to my hometown from WG, I warp in RIGHT NEXT TO THE DAMN OUTPOST GUY!....not to mention near the signet guy too...../sigh.
Yes, but if your HP is in Windurst (and there's more reasons to leave it there than in Whitegate), it's quite a run from any of the Residential Area exists or the Home Point crystal to the Warp NPC. If you want to get several things done in the same day, you'll end up warping back to your home nation several times and having to run all the way across Port Windurst each time you need to outpost warp somewhere else. It's even worse when you realize you forgot an item and you're already more than halfway across the zone...

          Fuck.

Yes, I said it. This was the fastest OP to AH run in the game. I could show up, sell everything I had, and be at the MH to change gear in under 5 minutes if I knew what I was doing. The Farming run to Dynamis-ready times are going up significantly for me, now.

The Sandy one was in a great location if you were in Whitegate and needed to outpost somewhere. You could warp in, grab signet and warp out again without having to really go anywhere.

If this many people depended on those NPCing prices, it's probably a good thing they fixed it anyway.

Though it occurred to me that it's basically the "Apple Pie nerf", isn't it? Are those the items he made a thread about RDM farming/soloing for fun+profit?

Someone want to post a link to some new item pages? I'm at work and I hate navigating every FFXI site but this one.

I don't totally disagree with your post here, but a lot of these things you just don't AH because there is 0 demand for them(find me someone who actually buys the Castle Z weapons on the AH). Which means you are back to farming things that actually sell on the AH such as Beechips/Silk Thread, which are already farmed to hell, adding much more to the supply, likely lowering the price unless demand is picked back up.

I know they're limited on options, but for those who did legitimately farm these items it's still a large hit, farming Zi'tah has been my fallback when ENM isn't dropping, prices on other farmables are messed up, and I really need cash for Limbus, etc. for a pretty long time now. I don't think they had poor intentions, but it doesn't mean that it doesnt' suck ass for some of us.

Was there a guide for items to solo for fun/gil? I probably should've checked it out.

But I remember the name, who/what was Apple Pie again?

This was part of the fundamental reasons why Windurst sucked balls, I don't think it was fair for it to be taken out on people from Sandy when our city didn't suck previously.

                        Missed this.
What? Aren't all those things kind of... not based on chance in any way?
Probably (another) bad translation. I'm guessing they mean that because the respawn time has been reduced, you now have a higher chance of finding the coffer up when you're coffer hunting for quests and the likes.

So I messed with Fields of Valor for a bit with some friends, it isn't bad exp for the time invested in it. In Qufim, they ask you to kill 10 mobs, usually a combo of two or more mob familys (they might say 8 crabs and 2 worms, or they may name the type of mob you have to kill, IE: 7 crabs and 3 Seeker Bats). Doing the page 1 got us 660 EXP/Gil and 66 Tabs (FoV point thingies). The page 3 one (7 pugils and three crabs) got us 700exp/gil and 70 tabs, both for about 15 minutes of work for three 28s, in addition to the exp from the mobs.

We also got a locked treasure casket, which was LOL. It told me the casket's first number value was even, it told someone else the first number was either 7 8 or 9, and the third person that one of the values was 2. The only thing we got out of it were Potions +2 (actual items, not temps).
