I don't play on PC anyway, so I couldn't do Plastic Surgeon.

My choices for Kitten were much more easily made than they were with Foobar, who was my initial victim of experimentation. Once I solidified Kitten as a RNG and COR, it made it all the more easier to define Foobar as a SCH and BST.

With the new merits coming, the status of my RDM and BRD are again in question. SCH will become a modest stat buffer with 5/5 Stormsurge. Might just go back to focusing on my BST again after I'm done meritting SCH.

I don't know why you feel the need to post an angry emoticon over that. Last I checked, people never wear eye patches around their necks to begin with. So why would you expect SE to do otherwise?

These new scenarios look "interesting". Do you think that this is the end of "proper" expansions? Or just something that they will be adding besides new expansions?

I think this is just a means of keeping the story/quest side of the game busy while working on the new MMO and a means of setting aside more time for the next proper expansion.

When you think about it, FFXI has more than enough endgame to play with right now, likely with more to come from within WotG. Dynamis and Limbus got revitalized in a few respects, people will be grinding away Nyzul weapons, Einherjar and Salvage for god knows how long. And then there's sky, sea, KS99s, HNMs, ZNMs and SNMs.

Plus whatever endgame comes toward the end of WotG.

That said, you can never have enough missions, quests or rewards from them.

WotG probably isn't the last true expansion we'll see, its probably just going to be a while longer til the next true expansion. I expect Expansion Chapters to be pretty standard fare for FFXI in the years to come and totally welcome it.

              Thanks for your nice response...

              A couple of questions....

              1. What is that deal with Summoner amnesia?
              2. I read in 2007 FANFEST, they SE DID CONFIRM that they were going to release new Avatars.. any news on that? Or had that been canceled?
              3. What do they mean that past expansions were linear.. and that these wont?
              4. I hope hat WoTG picks up... alot of people say it is weak so far.. any comments on that?
              5. I hope the story on these new scnearios is good.. since FFXI story is what got me back into playing this game.

Along with the other examples, I also noticed the Automaton will target itself and it's master over anyone else in the pt regardless of their HP. I have experienced many times when the Maton would cure itself or it's master when they've barely hit yellow HP while I tank a mob and sit in Red HP just getting pummeled. I know it's supposed to ensure it's own survival first...but maybe that should be tweaked some.

Since they showed everyone wearing it, I have a feeling this is going to be like those spectacles they gave away at the start of WotG. Unless it has good COR stats, I'm going to make fun of every COR that wears one. More than I already do the ones I catch using the Level 22 bullets in the 70s. Especially the ones I catch using Bronze Bullets at that level. Yes, I saw one using Bronze Bullets, it was pathetic.
It'll probably be more like the ToAU beastmen hats, a reward from MMMs. Though it will doubtfully have any real stats, it's still something new and different...and corny.

They already said these expansions would apply to pre-existing zones, so one pointing to Tavnazia is one I'm not getting my hopes up for unless it somehow is included as a WotG zone.

The moogle and Shantotto expansion chapters I don't know what to say about. A Crystilline Prophecy is just about the only expansion chapter that seems to potentially connect to a previous storyline.
I'm hoping that these little expansionettes will at least add some new zones, even if they're not the main focus. But then again, that's always what the proper expansions have focused on so maybe that's why they're adding these mini stories. Full expansions will increase the size of the game yet the mini ones will expand the lore. Either way, if they just start neglecting to add new areas and increase the lands they've been hinting at for so long, it would most indeed be suckatude of great merit.

                  1) If a Summoner get's Amnesia they are effectively worthless. Can't command their avatar to attack, bloodpact, leave or anything. On top of that, if they have an avatar out and get hit with Amnesia, they can't even rest MP and the avatar will just sit there draining it bit by bit.

                  2) Nothing concrete has come from that yet, but WotG isn't done yet.

                  3) Previous expansions had a single story that you would run through beginning to end. The only exception was WotG which had the "story" spread across four different plots. The new mini-expansions will each have their own story and follow their own paths. Possibly even having multiple scenarios based on decisions you make.

                  4) The "problem" with WotG is that it's so spread out, more so then any previous expansion. Where others were, as SE put it, linear in story and content, WotG's story is spread across all three nations as well as the time travel aspect and it's content focuses just as much attention into the old areas as it does the new. Even the two newly announced combat systems coming with WotG don't even need WotG for you to be able play them. They take place in the original game zones. I've had a theory now that WotG was SE's idea on how to go back and fix the old content that so many players complained about. During ToAU whenever a complaint would point to an original game zone, SE would respond by saying they'll fix the old as soon as they're done adding the new (which was ToAU at the time). And lo and behold, as soon as ToAU is done, SE goes and add some enormous changes to the entire game. Where players go back in time in WotG changing the past to protect the future, SE is doing the same in that they're changing their own "history" of sorts to ensure the future of this game.

                  5) This isn't really a question

I can vouch for that myself. I remember a PUP friend and I were in Upper Delfutt's trying to get the items to pop Alky or Pallas. What ended up happening was, one time he froze and since he couldn't engage the auto couldn't cure me and I died (that doesn't really count since that was a game glitch error type thing). Second time the Auto Cured him instead of me (his HP was yellow, mine was a little lower and I had mob hate) and I got pummeled and died lol.

You're misreading. They said past expansions add to the game laterally, not linearly. That means they add stuff that doesn't have much to do with the other content instead of adding more to what's already there. The mini-expansions take the approach of adding to what's already there instead of throwing out something completely new.

I actually doubt this very much BBQ. SE said in the article that the 3 new episodes are being handled by a separate, newly created team.

That means the main dev team is still hard at work on the next one :3

This. Every single bit of this is half of everything that's wrong with Summoner (the other half being not very newbie friendly, although Carby Mitts might be retroactively justified with Level Sync . . . ). They're a freaking mage, why isn't what they practice considered Magic (aside from summoning the Avatars themselves, which, also unfortunately, by themselves, are considered kinda worthless)?

Because you don't need a spell to tell an avatar "do this, do that." It's not like there was ever an issue with that until Amnesia came along.

If they're gonna do this for SMN, I'm wondering why they won't throw COR and DNC a bone on this as well. They're as much, if not more dependent on JAs than SMN is.
