I don't think the resistance toward PLD is as rigid as it once was considering all the elements that have happened around PLD more than happening directly to it. The buffs PLD got were a lot more subtle than other job adjustments, but they add up to a lot of ground regained. Reprisal was just icing on the cake.

NIN hasn't gained any ground, but PLD is no longer losing out as drastically as before.

    Think about it.

    Sanction Refresh.
    Aspir Samba.
    Pianissimo
    Update to Rampart/Accession Stoneskin
    Phalanx II/Accession Phalanx

These all lead to a more favorable situation for PLD, the update to BRD and addition of Aspir Samba possibly the biggest of them, even bigger than some of the gear additions and Reprisal.

I maintain that the only people that still maintain a rigid preference for NIN tanks are healers that suck which has long been the case before these adjustments. NINs just make the healer's job too easy. A healer's job with PLD these days isn't really that difficult.

You can't have one without the other. (And beating a couple of nontrivial special bosses, too.) And I think you're confusing 75 with endgame here - SMNs are not particularly overpowered in merit (compared to, gee, how about every job with a weapon). Nevertheless, I think SMN is good as it is. The last few years have given them a lot.
Not confusing it, just preferred the wording I used.

I agree, and I'd put BLU and SCH in this category too (as I mentioned on the group 2 merit thread). And probably also DNC.
Dunno if I agree about DNC and BLU, they've been hit with the ugly stick at endgame. DRG's problem was always perception, DNC and BLU's problem is thier design is crippled by endgame strategy in certain areas, mostly the popped NMs or 21-24 hour camped HNMs. PUP's problem is they've basically inherited DRG's perception problem, but they're not nearly as powerful as DNC or BLU.

I'm still holding out for the WoTG update to be some sort of level capped zones for lower level campaign. With level sync there's no need to worry about capped gear. Since there are lots of closed off zones they can stick it in it'd be feasible.

Although that begs the question whether the level capped zones would be necessary for the taking over of Beastmen Strongholds or not. But yea, more low level WoTG content please, I love Sigil D:

I don't think it would be asking too much to make avatars on-par with melee jobs for their DoT. Avatars can't be hasted or given store tp, so they'll never out perform a melee but neither should leaving said avatar out to attack actually be a burden on the PT.

That's essentially my core beef with SMN for the last few years. All I ask of SE is to make it practical to keep them out and not just whore out pacts. How they go about this is entirely up to them and I accept that.

You're quite right though BBQ in that those are the top 4 most potentially rigged jobs. Actually, I dare say BLM is rigged if you can get your hands on Herald Gaiters. Though I'd consider adding SCH and/or BLU to that list. Both jobs have some devastating potential but SE so far has done a bang up job of balancing them.

SMN is too easy to push over the line because if they make avatars too strong then why use any other job? (though I still find they really are too weak)

NIN's limiting factor is the obscene cost of shuriken. As much as I would love for them to be more accessible, just imagine how many RNG (and every other DD really) QQ'ing over the retarded DPS if NIN suddenly had easy access to Fuma Shuriken. I don't think it would have been all that bad to put all ninjutsu tools under Alchemy though to cut back on the tools cost.

        >.> RDM needs no explanation unless you're retarded.
