    Re: Version Update News (11/04/2008)

Campaign is essentially my merit source as far as my red mage goes. Somehow there's a distinct difference to the repetition of melee burn parties to the repetition of campaign battles. Enough to make me take the substantial hit in merit rate to campaign almost exclusively over merit parties.

I still like the good old fashioned parties for my Blue Mage though, not so sure about my Paladin quiet yet as that's still low level.

    In any case...
Job adjustments could be part of this for all you know, maybe they just stopped mentioning them so they could stop hearing RDM, SMN and NIN cry about not getting any new toys to play with.
Do you really think that stops them at all. I'd rather have them complain on the offset "We're not getting it this update!?" Than what it was for September "We're getting it, we're getting it, we're getting it, we're getting it, OH FUSE! WHYDIDDN'TWEGETOURUPDATE!?"

I am so happy! I really hope they add some new stuff :] like:

        -New Content for WoTG
-Allow hair and face changes (Only to the already implimented ones)
-Change the stats on lvl synced gear.
(I had a lvl 50 earring give more mp at lvl 30 than the lvl 45 one did, and the lvl 45 earring gave 25 mp total while the lvl 50 earring gave 15 mp total)
-Change the old AF stats on older jobs so its at least half as good as the current AF for the new jobs.

Those are just some at the top of my head, didnt really spend too much time thinking about it :]

I personally choose to Manaburn with BLM as well, nothing more fun than going up there and frying up some puddings, taking your hard earned merits and seeing them build your nuking power up. It's change you can see and it's always a fun thing to do, no waiting on parties to assemble and whatever. Another thing I can do is TP burn with my WHM. I'm currently lvling PLD and I'm almost 75. So I keep my options open and enjoy being able to take advantage of Campaign Battles for the actual fun this system has. It's way more organized than Besieged and you'd hope that by now they'd fix the problem with the ridiculous lag that occurs there but Campaign is just the better option.

As to gears and game content, I'd really like to see what other new things we can get out of the next update. SE has done pretty well on giving us what we've asked for and I don't expect anything less from them this time. Just don't go overboard with your expectations. Change comes one step at a time and if you think of it, they can't give us too much because then we wont need any more updates or whatever.

But still it could be an option friends in LS can use, /shurg, I doubt they'd do it. But some ppl do it, so it could go the way of a windower for the PC.
I prefer the Ventrillo or Skype approach rather than mass-exposure to mouthbreathers. I learned just how much voice chat can ruin the online RPG experience back with PSO's free trial on Xbox.

Really, if I wanted to hear "Wahhhh, we didn't get anything" for any job, I'd just cruise right on over to Alla or KI after any update. Seeing as I've long-since removed the impulse to even type in thier domain names, I'd rather just not hear it.

Everyone got something last update - Level Sync. Took the neccesity of soloing away for some jobs and ruined many solo camps for others, but otherwise beneficial to all.

At any rate, telling yourself you are getting a job update is rather different from SE telling you your job is getting an update. Better to wait for SE's say on the matter than to set yourself up for disappointment by expecting it. As I had always said - the jobs who have it the best already will be last in line.

Lol I know what you mean. I took a trip over to those sites one time and fell of my chair laughing at how retarded they all are.

The problem is SE often shoves its foot in its own mouth by saying X job is getting something in the future (or that they intend to) and it never comes. Still waiting on that scythe and avatar update SE...

If they'd simply stop making promises or notions they can't/don't intend to keep it'd be a lot better. There's a big difference between simply wanting something and waiting forever for something that was in fact offered at some point.

                  Re: Version Update News (11/04/2008)

That's why we call it "the future." The future is an unspecified date.

And you have no right to complain, BST was made to wait longer for real updates than any other job in this game - including SMN and DRG. When the BST updates came, they were all very well planned out.

Also, some things are dropped for the sake of balance. Tell me, does RDM really, really need Tier II enspells? Look at all the Haste gear they have access to, the Joyeuse and things of that nature. Ask yourself how that helps them better the group as a whole better than they did before.

All we have are some renders what were found in DATs and slapped on YouTube. There's a lot of things in the DATs that could be in the game but aren't.

Not to mention that SMN, RDM, BLM and NIN are the jobs SE actually has to be the most careful with. Lots of jobs have tremendous power at 75, but give one job too much and people will flock to that job instead.

And no offense, Mal, but I've never seen you offer any ideas that were balanced. I've only see ideas that would be overpowered and gamebreaking. There's an obvious balance to each job and they all have a weakness somewhere - that's just as it should be.

                    Re: Version Update News (11/04/2008)

More importantly, do you want your job to be adjusted the way Rng was or another better way?

And if your job doesn't get any new abilities maybe it's because it's balanced. Job X is not entitled to boosts or updates just because other different jobs that do different things get boosts or updates.

You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be misqouted and then used against you.

I don't have a big ego, it just has a large mouth.

Also, as far as I can remember, SE did not promise the job changes they proposed at the fanfest. There's a big difference between "we're thinking of changing jobs in this way" and "there's a job update coming, here are the details."

                        Re: Version Update News (11/04/2008)

On LBR's forums, Juxtapostion loves to say one thing I wish I could strangle him for. "Everyone pays to play, therefore everyone should get an update."

While there may be some truth to it, it doesn't mean it has to be right this minute or that it should be implemented just for the sake of a job getting something.

As Vy pointed out - would you really want to get nerfed as hard as RNG did? SE essentially murdered the job to please other DDs and took well over a year and a half to fix it. They slaughtered the job's reputation and lost a portion of the userbase over it. Those that still wanted big numbers flocked to BLM only to get kicked in the nuts once again when ToA came out.

By contrast to what has happened with RNG and BLM, everything else is peanuts. Even that tremendous disparity in buff power BRD and COR had for a year and a half doesn't compare - I'm pretty sure most people aren't even aware the disparity existed to start with.

People can talk about how long its been since RDM got an update, but they overlook just how strong that job has been since then. NINs complain about not getting anything, but how long were PLDs playing second fiddle because NIN was made too good from the outset? SMNs complain about how they climb to 75, but never about the power they have at 75.

They're powerful jobs. Almost too powerful. SE should tread carefully with them, lest they have to make the extreme decisions they did with RNG.

One thing I would like to see, and this is more of a personal hope than a get on it now SE, but I would like to see Ninja get a throwing weapon skill. I know I know that could go one way or another, but skill A in it and still has nothing to show for it other then some expensive throwing items. ^^

As a RDM, I agree. RDM hasn't gotten an update other than merits because SE can't think of anything reasonable to give us. I can't either (other than a replacement for staffs), so how can I blame them?
NINs complain about not getting anything, but how long were PLDs playing second fiddle because NIN was made too good from the outset?
Four years and counting, unless I'm misremembering RoZ's release date. Your wording could be read to imply that this condition has ended. It hasn't.
SMNs complain about how they climb to 75, but never about the power they have at 75.
You can't have one without the other. (And beating a couple of nontrivial special bosses, too.) And I think you're confusing 75 with endgame here - SMNs are not particularly overpowered in merit (compared to, gee, how about every job with a weapon). Nevertheless, I think SMN is good as it is. The last few years have given them a lot.
They're powerful jobs. Almost too powerful. SE should tread carefully with them, lest they have to make the extreme decisions they did with RNG.
I agree, and I'd put BLU and SCH in this category too (as I mentioned on the group 2 merit thread). And probably also DNC.
