Funny, but they don't have to accept a synced party invite if they don't want to. It's not like people will be flocking to the dunes to get that uber exp/hr. Low level parties get *less* exp/hr, it's just that TNLs are so low you can still get 2-3 levels in a night anyway. A synced-down character won't get that benefit and will be there all night to get half a level - yay.

Funny you say that, because I don't see a whole lot of difference between that and camping in the mire, trying to out-pull 25 other PTs.

So if you have some friends that need someone, the PT is going well and you have nothing better to do, you're going to say no?

I dont think that is what was implied at all bbq. Im pretty sure all that was implied was lvl 75's are not going to hang around in lowbie zones killing every thing because it isn't worth it. Unless I misread and Kar put lvl 75's will never party with their friends in the dunes because it would be a waste of their time.

I don't know when someone who is level 75 was last level 18, but let me remind you that being low level SUCKS.

Unless your a WAR, you have like 2 job abilities MAX, and 1 of them is a 2hr, and the other one is largely useless (hi2u Last Resort).

            :-D

I'm not syncing down so that I can enjoy how AWESOME Stone 1 and Water II are.

And God damnit, I'm not going to be stripped of Rampart.

It T O T A L L Y sucks. Been trying to get my SCH through the dunes and it's a fucking nightmare. I can't do half the shit I'm used to doing. No Haste, no Erase, no Curagas, hardly any -na spells ... it's horrible. I can't stand it.

Because favoring the high level EXP camps that are always too crowded to go to is the very model of efficiency.

I should point out that most, if not all, the last several subjobs I've levelled haven't even touched the dunes or partied til about Kazham. This doesn't have to be about going back to the dunes, but I don't see why it would behoove people to do so, aside from thier own egos.

I will party mid levels with my friends, but I'm not planning to drop from 75 to 15 because the Dunes is just awful.

I would take a 30ish job to the Dunes though.

There are a lot of ways to look at the update:
                    • Statics, for one, got a load easier, you don't have to nag one of your friends to stay a certain level. They can go on ahead independantly and then sync back down when it comes time to static.
                    • It certainly makes things easier on newer players. I know a lot of people that join up with LBR on Odin as new players, but unfortunately, I can't do much with them unless I just want to go level up another job, which I usually don't. If anything, this should keep things in my LS a little more lively since it is a social LS at heart. I think this update will really shine for social LSes in particular.
                    • Duos, trios and even pet PTs will be easier to form and maintain. Now the only real issue facing any kind of staticed group is time zones and not levels.

This is also wonderful for those PTs that are not quite as level-matched as you'd like. Say you take a PT to Western Altepa for beetles, and the PT is 41-43. If one of the 43s ding, XP is going to be poor for the killing power, and you all KNOW how much this can happen! Just sync that new 44 down to 43, and instant XP boost...

Being able to join a lower-level PT is highly useful, but JUST as useful is the ability to keep the levels of your PT even closer than ever.

Fortunately there are 74 other levels in the game. People not at cap may just find some use from the feature.

I dont get it BBQ you try and rip on Kar, but now its ok to level in lower areas to avoid the over crowding? Do you know where 90% of the 75's are going to go because of over crowding, 5-10 levels back to the other colibri. or guess what, on populated servers they might even go to an RoZ/CoP area (shocker I know).

All Ker was saying was to not be worried about low level areas, because 75's are going to do their best to stay away from said areas.

Unless it is with a friend, which you also claim Kar said won't happen. The fact is, this probably isn't going to be used at all by 75's in the majority sense, but for mod levels hell ya I can see them going back and synching.

                            No one cares.

That aside, one point I keep forgetting to make this update also helps solve one big problem that's been going on since ToA - gaining conquest points. Its hard for a RDM to get Master Caster Bracelets or for RNG to get Gold Musketeer Bullets if all they ever do is ToA camps. Syncing down and doing pre-55 PTs would allow someone to gain EXP and conquest points, alleviating that particular issue and still gaining EXP/LP.

I'm also one of the few people that actually keeps sets of level capped gear for my jobs, so I can take advantage of most, if not all, of what this update will have to offer. I might actually finish RDM because of this update, god knows I don't want to have to stomach main healer RDM all the time, particularly when SCH main heals so much more enjoyably.

                            • Re: New Level Sync Feature to Change the Way You Party! (08/25/2008)

All I was suggesting is that a group of mostly 75s (or some other high level) is not going to actively look for a level 18 so that they can all sync down to get some sweet dunes exp, because in fact, dunes exp is not sweet at all (it's dunes TNLs that give you 3 levels a night in a good party) and most people's memories of the dunes are not exactly favorable. So, in fact, you will not see Valkurm overrun with high level downsynced players (except maybe the first couple weeks as a cool new thing to try out).

It's great for statics - you can even *form* them without worrying about levels, as long as everyone is willing to sync down to the low guy (and that doesn't wreck their gear to the point that they can't function).

It's also good for outleveling your camp during the party, as Nuriko points out. Just sync the exp-killer, then you'll be fine until the *whole party* outlevels the camp, which is unlikely even for low levels.

Ya - just the other day we were doing Garlaige and I dinged high, and screwed the EXP for the rest of the PT - would have been nice to just sync down a level or two and keep going, XP was flowing well that night too.....
