Re: New Level Sync Feature to Change the Way You Party! (08/25/2008)

So, I could party with some Lv.20 guy, wearing my Haste gear set and Joytoy. Um, holy shit. So THIS is why S-E changed the "Look for Party Members" command to include people of all levels in the current region years ago. Brilliant!

EDIT: OH SHIT. Dark Staff's +10 hMP would be unaffected, as probably would be the elemental staves' bonuses.

Actually I think the things not highlighted would be completely negated. They specifically mentioned how some stats would just be ignored in lvl capped areas.

Somehow, I get the feeling that despite higher lvl gear being usable in capped areas...the normal lower level gear will still be better to use. Otherwise the prices on some low lvl items is going to plummet.

Ah, I misunderstood, thought they meant that other special effects on gear wouldn't be affected. Oh well, this is still hella sweet. I could be LFG on my 22 THF and invite a Lv.40 WHM or a Lv.36 WAR.

While in theory it's all well and good, i doubt many lvl 75s would give up their choice, super squishy merit targets. However this would certainly make the low and mid lvls easier by opening up far more potential party members. And it would definately make LS based static parties far more effective, as now there will be no reason one couldn't help their newbie friends lvl.

But the whole "no more extra gear for capped missions" bit still seems to be the biggest perk of this announcment. I guess I'll finally be able to store my WAR AF permanently from now on.

They did say the better gear around that level will still be better. That's a good thing to see.

That rocks more than a rocking chair!

I wonder, the game will probably take a few months to settle into this. I mean, what if you could come back to a lvl 60 area, have someone lvl 60 stay inside of town, and then go to work on some lesser Colibri and start meripo killing them. Hell a lvl 40 area.

Very interesting, but hell i'm all for it, if i can get a party as a 32 whm, in garlige citadel, and kazham, and qufim, and the dunes, that's like triple the ammount of places i could party with and gain exp. And not having to worry about gear just free'd up about 140 spaces on my main and my 4 mules. Awesome.

Suddenly bounding boots don't look so stupid after all.

Imagine being a DD who just cant seem to get a party to save their lives, suddenly gets an invite to a lower level party, awesome!

Lower exp/hour? Meh, its not like you gain MORE exp just because you're on a higher level, it depends on so many other factors...

As for gear scale down... have to wait and see.

What would give you that idea?

Statistics on higher-level equipment (including HQ and rare items) being scaled down will be comparable to those of common items at the target level. This means that lower-level characters who have obtained special equipment via quests, notorious monsters, or HQ syntheses will still have the best gear available at their respective level!

Like having access to, and swapping with, better gear. Access to more viable areas with weaker mobs and what not. Face it, you can get the fastest EXP in the game when your able to get into merit parties in ToAU areas, and that's not going to change just because you can now party in the Jungles with your (scaled down to common gear) AF on.

It sounds 'OMG AWESOME!" but in reality, I doubt many people will ever use it.

Well this game always had a sort of "lvl cap to party with higher lvl buddy" thing, but it was a sucky system that only worked with two players and only up to lvl 50. This is just an expansion of that system to the entire playerbase. But the capless gear part is *really* nice. I'm sure everyone has a few pieces of "meh" gear they only use for capped things and this will open up a lot more options. It also means that there might actually be useful DD gear in the lower lvls due to capped/reduced effect higher lvl gear.

And I'm sure plenty of people will be using this. Besides the aformentioned increased ability to party with LS mates regardless of lvl (which alone will greatly increase a players options) how many times have you been building a pt only to be missing one of two choice jobs and the only ones seeking would totally kill everyone else's exp?

In EQ2 it was used predominantly to help lower levels with quests so I suppose it'll be useful for level-capped events.

I think that the most ppl who will use it will be included in the statment that SE gave...

                              SE Said:

"I can't party effectively with my friends or linkshell members because our levels are too far apart!"

Also it will help out normal parties by allowing them to keep the lvls closer together than have a 5 or more gap. It has a lot of uses outside the dropping a lvl 75 to a lvl 10 status.

Indeed, the game isn't all about meritpo.
