There's no downside unless you accept tags, drop tags accidentally then try and get new ones again instantly or something. Make it so the timer is in effect per zone (so if you fight in say Pash for 10 minutes, drop tags and warp to Bastok, you can still get tags in bastok) but resets when a new campaign starts.
I dunno, I don't really like the increasing the wait-time idea as it stands now. In the course of a 15 minute battle, I can easily reach other caps on WHM main, (*cough*healing*cough*), and need to go get a new tag. If things take that long, it'll be less attractive than it already is to campaign on WHM. That's why I suggested adjusting the "per-minute" cap for just the exploited categories. If you bump these around so that the Bronze Ribbon category takes 6-8 minutes to cap exp in self-buffs? Right now, Bronze Ribbon has a rolling cap of 60 exp/category/minute. Making it take about 3 minutes total to cap out self-buffs at 150 exp for the category. That's the exploit. The cap rises by 2 points each ribbon from there. Now, let's say you drop that rolling cap for just the self-buff category. Say, it's now worth 20 exp/cat/min. The total exp cap for the category still stays the same, (150 exp), but now it takes you 7-8 minutes to reach that cap instead of 3. If you're botting, that means it takes you almost 3 times as long to make exp. On the other hand, those of us playing legitimately are probably not going to notice that. We might lose some exp, but 40-50 exp here is hardly going to be felt.

It feels like we're not going to get S-E to budge on the raising healing/buffing others caps that support jobs have asked for. I'd rather not implement any solutions that might nerf campaigning on these jobs further if I can help it.

I wonder how difficult these new NM's will be... will they be allience fights? Soloable? I hope they are not large man fights. Nobody seems to want to work together during campaign.

I dunno, on Cerby there always seems to be a nice mix of Ops being done, when they're availible. I know my personal favorites are Search and Seizure (Resource Procurment) Slaughterhouse (Intel) and Steel Resolve (Security).

If they added a longer wait between refreshing tags, they could easily increase the amount of HP cured. However, it can be very easy to cap cured HP within a matter of minutes (A fully boosted Sch AoE Cure on NPCs after fighting a Blm NM would cap in one cast). However they could also just up the cap for cure EXP while changing this. And a Whm could easily spend the rest of those 15 minutes meleeing/buffing/enfeebling and status healing.

              /facepalm

So all this time I could've entered the BC without needing to be in a party? I assumed they were like Assaults so never tried entering solo.

              /em is going to give it a try tonight. <_<;

How much xp/notes do you get doing those and how long do they take? Now that I finally got the last 2 pieces of pld gear I wanted (until next update anyway) I'll try to do other things for notes and xp, specially if I can help the nation in the process.

No what I meant is you could solo them because they're that easy; the hard part is finding the 2 other people required to enter the zone.

As a WHM the healer NPCs already bug the heck out of me. Not only do you have to compete with a bunch of SE's bots for cure exp now but there is every chance that that MP you spent on a Cure IV will get wasted by an NPC that seems to have near constant chainspell up.

I gave up on bothering about campaign exp a long time ago. It's obvious that SE is going to keep hitting support classes with the nerf bat more and more often exp-wise, heck I've regualrly been the only class with the capability to buff and heal in a zone before so I only really tag along with LS members or people on my friend's list for the fun of it rather than trying to gain any sort of reasonable exp gain.

These will be nice additions. I only hope people will actually try to go after the NM's. It's already bad enough they won't even go to the strongholds after having all the areas.
I find that what is more fun is MPKing them, then raising them, then MPKing them again and raising them again. The honest players get a ton of raise points (20+ Raises at 20exp each adds up FAST) and you get the exp from taking damage and healing up the honest players.

Don't give up on campaign, just start meleeing instead. I've gotten a lot more notes/xp meleeing as a BRD than when trying to just play sidelines (even got from 73 to 75 capped xp doing campaign).

WHM can do more dmg than BRD and there's always a Tank (PC or NPC) who needs a cure. Plus WHM npcs get killed fairly fast most of the times. You have Haste, Stoneskin and if you sub RDM Phalanx so you have better chances of survivng than most DDs getting hit by AoE. Just keep Reraise up at all times.

                      Re: The Campaign Continues! (08/15/2008)

My club skill is at something like 100 so the most I've ever done in melee on campaign is 50 tops. My Banish I spell does 100+ thanks to a pretty much capped Divine Magic skill (spamming Banish spells and Flash in besieged caps Divine in no time at all. Enhancing and Enfeebling are easily kept up anyway and Healing Magic on the other hand...) and my Banish II spells have done some pretty nasty damage when Magic Bursting. I have a BLU friend who can self chain a Fusion Skillchain so dropping Banish of Holy on that with a high Divine magic skill is always fun.

And I still do Campaign. I've found that it's a lot more fun after I stopped caring about exp (especially since Beseiged gives more exp/hour overall for me) and it's a lot more fun when duoing or trioing. I also found out that WHM makes a great kiter if no RDM is around to do it (and let's face it, all the RDMs are busy meleeing to bother with kiting on CB).

It's a shame that I'm about 3 days away from losing my medal though. Campaign Ops are fun and I can only do the ones for Allied Ribbon of Bravery since I can only just earn enough AN to hang on to that medal nevermind get a promotion.

Well your profile says you're only 51 WHM (unless that's changed?) which means you're only getting 80% of the EXP and AN you earn. (need to be 61+ to get full XP)

And you should try to cap club in a skill up PT.

My profile hasn't been updated in well over a month. Currently 59WHM. Invites are pretty few and far between so I've gone from 50-59 purely by doing Beseiged and Campaign with people off my friends list. The one single party invite I got in that level range was terrible. I ended up tanking for the NIN as a WHITE MAGE because the guy couldn't hold hate at all. I mean I was pulling hate by putting up STONESKIN. And this was the same guy who wanted to fight Puks but the party vetoed him and chose birds instead.

And people still do skill up parties? Every time I ask my LS or do shouts in Whitegate or Jeuno I get no response or the generic "lolz Killzzzz S0ldierzzz noob" shoutback even though my damage output is so low I run out of MP and die to Poison Breath long before I do any real damage to the things.

Try giving Worker Crawlers a shot in Yhoator Jungle. They're 43-46, a little weaker than the Soldiers in CN. If those don't work, hit monsters.ffxi-atlas.com and use their skill-up widget on the left side of the page, a little ways down.

What club are you using? At 65 you can use a Darksteel Maul, and I highly recommend you pick one up as soon as you can. Decent DPS and Attack+10 for only 10k or so on Kujata.

I hope SE does not nerf out self buffs. Personally they make up probably a third of my points as is. Its not very fair to those of us who do campaign legit and rely on them as a source of exp/an.

I mean if they get nerfed I will then have to buff other players in order to receive the reward of exp and AN as someone who does campaign for times when I don't feel like carrying buff cycles or main healing roles I think its a bullshit slap in the face. If I wanted to carry those cycles I might as well just go merit or level my WHM or SCH at least I would get something out of it.

I understand that people do abuse this but the number of people who abuse it is very minimal compared to those of us who don't. If SE alters this to much I may just give campaign and all of WoTG (which is lack luster to say the least outside of campaign) hell if this update follows suit with the previous ones this year (barring job tweaks as they have been needed) I may just be done playing this game come september, as it stands with the lack of any real content increases there isn't much of anything new to do that I couldn't do when CoP was our new stomping ground. Tweakng campaign and adding non-required enemies and no real reasons to continue doing it is not the way to go. SE has been full of fail this entire year and I imagine nothing much will change.

If SE is focusing on removing botters from this game they should monitor the kings nm's there is more botters there at any 1 time than in campaign. But instead of focusing on balancing these big time nm's/hnm's they choose to focus on nerfing a mechanic that the majority of the players use legitimatley, of course what can you expect from a company who doesn't give a shit about anything in this game outside of nabbing a couple thousand RMT every 3 months.

They are probably going to put a limit to how many times you can get evaluated and get new tags, so that people can't spam to cap and then get new tags. I don't think they'll nerf self buffs too badly but they will nerf your ability to do it over and over and over again, since that is the way it's being abused.
