The Dev team said @ fanfest we'd be getting more summons in WotG. I don't care what anyone says, I'm gonna keep hoping for Alex and Odin until SE says otherwise.

So I did some reading up on Ixion's mythology.

Seems after killing his father-in-law (he pushed him onto hot coals and burning wood, nice guy), he was invited to the table of the Gods as a guest of Zeus. Odd way to reward this guy, but then Ixion started getting a chubby for Zeus' wife, Hera.

Zeus caught on to this and created an imitation of Hera from some clouds. Ixion went with the imitation Hera and slept with her and she gave birth to the race of centuars (upper body of a human, lower body that of a horse). Ixion was later bound to wheel by Zeus and cast into the abyss known as Tartarus. This wheel was set to spin forever and was only occasionally brought to stop by the music and songs of Orpheus.

Moral of the story: No matter how much you hate your in-laws, don't burn them or you'll father horsechildren.

We'll they used it for the teleporting to sky quest thing. I thought it was interesting to actually have a title to be able to do a quest is all.

Why does it seem like SE is spewing out content at an alarming rate? Could it be because they think they're going to lose a bunch of people to Warhammer and that Conan thing if they don't get off their asses and do what they should have been doing since day one? >.>

Either way, this sounds pretty cool. Can't wait to see what kind of ridiculous requirements they implement to actually fight it, and I'm looking forward to being told that I can't tank it. Whoo!

I dunno, I always thought Quetzalcoatl was pretty cool. I enjoyed using him in FF8

But yes, I liked Quetzalcoatl's design too. Let's hope he comes in as the new wind avatar at least. Then I'll actually level SMN like I wanted to when I first began playing. That is, if Ixion is confirmed to be one of the new avatars.

SE is more frequent with updates as the update day approaches. I think it's normal.

Also so that after they start bitching again idiots can pipe in saying "You just got a new avatar a few months ago. What the hell more do you want?". Have to keep the idiots entertained, they're the largest part of the userbase.
