Well, I certainly do hope it's an avatar. Summoners haven't gotten anything super-cool and new for many moons (I don't count that mp restore power because SMN really needed that)--No, a new avatar is good for a completely different and mostly cosmetic reason. The last time they did, they got merit pacts at the same time as everyone else.

Of course, all avatars thus far have dropped stuff too, and a couple of the pieces are actually pretty cool even if affected by annoying latents. That would certainly satisfy the HNMophiles.

Of course, the best way to do it would be to screw everyone and make it a Campaign Battle Hero.......

I wouldn't get your hopes up about it being an Avatar, they never specifically mentioned the word and they usually do when avatars are involved. It's most likely another HNM that can pop in any zone like the Sandworm, or even a mission monster of some kind.

I would have to agree with the thought that it will probably be a HNM that can spawn in multiple areas making it abit harder to "Camp" and maybe adding to the HNM world in a new way. It wouldn't make sense to add a second lighting based Summon imo as much as I would like to see it.

If they do truly add it every SMN will want another alternate summon for every other element, that while cool, is not neccessary. More summons will not suddenly mean the difference between people loving SMN and thinking of it as a meh job. I personally like SMN, but there is truly no logical reason to make it a summon.

Whether SE feels the same way is unknown, but it will either be a Mission Boss for the continuation of the WotG expansion or an HNM imo.

Funny, because SE originally stated that Diabolos was "too important" to the story to make him usable. Furthermore, Odin and Alex are just as powerful as the other 6 celestials. The difference between them is Odin and Alex have fully awakened. SE could still add them as summons if they wanted to, it's just (sadly) highly unlikely.

And I don't even want Bahamut until they change Mega and Gigaflare back from the retarded new Fire element to Non elemental (and ignroing magic def) like it's always been.


And don't you think it'd be a tad odd to introduce a summon (though Ixion was only ever in 10 >.>) that seemingly has zero influence on the game's story only as an HNM? (side note; Fenrir is pretty central to Windy's story if you think about it AND damn powerful, but we still got him. Bahamut I think is just too big, as are Alex and Odin.)


Need I remind people what we saw at the end of ToAU? I wouldn't make any final judgments just yet.

Nice story but it's 50/50 weater or not Summoners get a new avatar to play with. It may just be another BCMN/story element to play with but I guess we'll have to wait for the update and see.

As for Phoenix I could see it having moves like an AoE reraise(on different levels) since bard has a song like that...

Or... If it is a new NM, then it will be one of the new force spawn NMs that SE mentioned would be added, making it impossible to camp

It'd be kinda cool if it was a NM that dropped rare/ex items that you could trade in for the ability to summon it.

Oh, and Quetzalcoatl FTW! My favorite lightning based summon anyway.

Ixion - meh, I was never that excited about him anyway. Seemed like SE spent several games failing to come up with a good substitute for Ramuh, when there was no good reason to ditch him in the first place. But I guess we'll see what they come up with for it, if it is a summon at all.

I dunno, I always thought Quezacotl was pretty cool. I enjoyed using him in FF8

Heh that would be a really quirky and annoying thing to have to try and pull off. Can you imagine and entire alliance at red hp get one shotted by his appearance with an AoE opening attack? lmao The Mental images of entire LS's dead from the initial pop is hilarious.

"Avatars" is plural. Ixion isn't.

(BTW, Ixion also appears as a somewhat minor summon in FFXII:RW, but I think that game had just about every FF summon in the book, possibly thanks to the nature of the game.)
