FINAL FANTASY XI Now Available on Direct2Drive! (05/29/2008)
Especially considering that was your only post on these forums, you kind of have nothing to back that claim up with.
Have to start posting sometime. Howabout let's pick everyones first post and analyze it. What evidence or experience do they have to support whatever they are saying? Can't start with 1000 posts like you can a checkbook. Ever heard of the term you are not your post-count?
What's the official post-count requirement to be able to give your honest two cents and not be flamed? Curious.
Allow me to better explain the reasoning behind my statement. The lack of a respectable fanbase (relative to WoW mind you) is, in my opinion, largely due to the fact that SE is so far behind the technology curve it's laughable. This is coupled with the game design itself (and in certain aspects the content and the way it's presented) is why more people just don't play. Learning curve and patience requirement is too high for your average gamer (fact). BUT, this is actually why I love this game and am absolutely addicted lol (since the beginning of '05). I've never partook in anything similar for this long in my life (unless forced).
Anyway...
Now don't get me wrong, I honestly don't want 5 million+ jackass kids playing this game, or 5 million+ anyone. I rather enjoy being apart of something that 1. relatively few people even know about, 2. only a few people enjoy and 3. can easily hold my attention for 6+ hours straight.
I think about it and it's almost a catch-22, in that, if SE listened to what their customers want, implement changes as expeditiously as Blizzard (via similar methods - not the way SE does it in the most clusterfuck prone way), and was aligned with available technologies, that it would attract a great deal more people - leading to the massive influx of asswads who live for instant gratification. This is not what I would want for FFXI. Maybe this is SE's way of weeding out those people to keep only hardcore gamers who appreciate the fact that you have to actually put some time and effort into this game to get the good stuff.
Regardless, however slow SE is to incorporate these technologies into their world I'm here to stay. Seriously though, it's about gd time. Get with the program SE.

Well... I was happy to see (finally) FFXI on D2D, I've been buying my games there for a bit because I don't like boxes. I keep the installers on my drive instead if I ever decide to uninstall games. Anyhoo I was so happy I resubbed and bought a new hard drive for space which I was severely lacking.
So instead of bringing in lots of 'kiddies' it might bring back old players? Or not.. :p
