    Sorry but that has nothing to do with what I was saying.

    I don't care about what other jobs got or didn't, the point was it would've been better if SE added the spells as scrolls and waited to add group 2 merits.

    Like I said, it could've been done in the form of group 2 being tier II Enspells or meritable Enspell traits, instead of what they did.

        I've never had problems pulling or keeping buffs up if ythat's what you are trying to imply, but adding another song to the cycle without enough fast cast would be troublesome for me.

                Why should they be forced fit into one single role when they can do other things effectively? Especially if they can buff WHILE pulling in those high number chains.

                Personally, I love how SE made a bunch of 'meh' abilities into 'Cool!' and some 'Cool!' abilities into "Awesome!" with this. I'm also eager to find out what other secret ability updates they have coming with this update. Does anyone know when it's happening? I keep hearing first week of june.

                  I just splooged over my haidate's.

                  This looks like a very interesting update.
                  Even though end-game hardly uses rng anymore, the -10% delay looks very nice.

                  +20%hp mantra might give mnk a place in zerg happy hnmls' which otherwise is a non-existent job right now.

                  +1:40 on phantom rolls means I can be even more lazy and gives me time to do some dd in merits.

                  kick attacks... not sure how that's going to work out. unless the dmg and tp gain is enormous, you wont see mnks using it in meripo, which is more or less the only place you do see mnks now. oh, actually you see them in salvage too! i wonder if this will affect the popularity of kick attack+ items. ie: kung fu shoes/wulong/dune boots.

                  the brd /ja is awesome. I'm actually dealing with that issue now where you need to give the pld all the refresh you can get but trying hard not to hit other melee. i've gotten the distance down pretty well but this update will make my job a lot easier.

                  taru blms start capping out ur xp buffer!

                  and seriously, se has a major hard on for pld (as well as sam). MORE shield procs? i've grown to love pld/nin tanks nowadays. by far the best all around tank. I cant wait to see them in action to see how much it helps them when straight tanking big game.

                    Because its a role that's neglected by the majority of BRDs.

                    I'm still able to count the number of BRDs that can maintain buffs and pull full time on one hand. This includes those in endgame linkshell meritpo. The overall quality of players in the class is abysmal for the hype it gets.

                      Concerning group II upgrade vs. RDM melee upgrade: I take the RDM melee upgrade not happening this time around as meaning that they're having a hard time making it balanced. They've probably tried a couple things, found them unworkable, and are back at the drawing board as we speak.

                      Concerning the group II adjustment in general: Personally, I'm expecting that it's not going to be pure upgrade. Probably a few of the group IIs will be adjusted at the same time...
                      • Protectra V sucks, and would still at least suck for the level of investment even after this update. I'm hoping they adjust the upgrades upward at least a little; even making it +3 Def per upgrade would help when combined with this update.
                      • I wouldn't be surprised if Slow II's curve shifted a little bit to make a single level of it less powerful and additional levels of it more so.
                      • -50 Enmity for a whole minute seems a liiittle strong. I'm betting Muted Soul will be bumped down to -8 Enmity per merit.
                      • If Desperate Blows isn't changed to -3% Delay per merit to make the update a zero sum game for this trait, I'll be shocked.
                      Concerning kickboxing: Kung Fu Shoes are gonna be a hot item...

                      Concerning Aura Spikes: Ah, that's why it's going to be worthwhile. Great news for my PLD/RDM!

                      Concerning serenading people: Yay! About time!

                      Concerning PLD dual-shielding: It'd be even cooler if we had dual spiked or bladed shields. -- Pteryx

                        In a bit of role reversal, I'll point out that Ninjas DID get some love (indirectly) here.

                        Ordinarily at endgame, Ninjas get posted into tank parties, where the typical songs being run are... wait for it... Ballad I and Ballad II. Which for anything except a NIN/DRK is completely useless (and really a NIN/DRK could live just fine off of Refresh 95% of the time).

                        Now Bards can toss the NIN a targetted Victory March and stack a Foe Sirvente on top of it (particularly NIN/WAR who have zero use for MP).

                        RDMs got a BIG boost here. All of their group 2 merit abilities are now extremely potent. This won't stop the "I want to swing my sword!" crowd from whining of course, but it's nonetheless a big boost to a job that probably needed it the least to begin with.

                        WHM group 2 merits just got really interesting. Even at 68 DEF, Protectra V is still a crock since Protectra IV is 55 DEF. But the other options are all pretty amazing (particularly 10 minute Devotion).

                        Paladins are another big winner here. It's not like any of their group 2's were bad to begin with. Ditto for Warrior.

                        Dark Knights getting 25% Haste from Desperate Blows = yowza. I'm not sure S-E has thought this all through. Look for more endgame DRK zerging tactics to re-appear ever since equipment haste got nerfed.

                          I personally like pulling on cor and brd. It keeps me awake. If I'm meriting as mnk or w/e I tend to doze off so giving me more goodies helps.

                          I'm not sure how I want to merit cor. I havent gone into any of the job specific merits for cor yet. I think I'll go full winning streak merits, full PR recast merits and full qd merits just to give myself wiggle room on tp'ing and pulling when in meripo. end game it really doesnt matter all that much how long my rolls last imo, just a convenience.

                          Do you think the brd /ja is going to be like nightingale/troubadour where it lasts for XX seconds and anything sung during that time is targeted or will it be a 1/ja 1song sort of deal?

                            Or perhaps the opposite and SE did plan for this, hence the previous "nerf" to their higher end Haste effects or whatever it was. Lowering it overall to make room for this rebuff.

                            There have always been and always will be crappy Brds. No matter the kind of party or fight or situation, it's a job many level because of easy invites and relatively cheap gear. But those that can work it right and get it to a balance as it is now will be thrown a bit by this update as it adds another song to the mix. No reason to damn the good because of the majority of bad

                                I would think so, only in that if you could only do one song and then have to wait for a cooldown, it would not be very effective.
