    Several adjustments to the battle system are scheduled for the upcoming version update.

    Several adjustments to the battle system are scheduled for the upcoming version update.

    Merit Points Group 2: Maximum Raised for Ability Increases
    Adjustments to the Group 2 section of the merit point job categories will be implemented in the upcoming version update.
    The current total maximum ability increase of 6 and the individual maximum ability increase of 3 will be raised to match the Group 1 values of 10 and 5, respectively.

    New Job Abilities and Spells
    In conjunction with the scheduled job adjustments, the monk, paladin, and bard jobs will be receiving new abilities and spells.

    For monks, we will be adding a new job ability that allows them to restrict their attacks to kicks only. In exchange for a penalty to attack delay, the monk receives an increase to damage and attack power, as well as a bonus to the amount of TP gained per kick.

    Paladins will be receiving a new spell that increases the rate of shield blocks, as well as reflecting blocked damage back to an attacker. As with "Blaze Spikes" and "Dread Spikes," this spell will only affect the caster.

    Lastly, bards will gain a job ability that allows them to limit the area effect of a song to a single target.
    For example, if a bard casts "Mage's Ballad" after activating this new ability, only the selected target will receive the effect of the song.

    Hmm, the increased group 2 cap would actually allow Phalanx II to be more potent than Accession Phalanx and Bio III to deal more damage than Bio II, if only slightly in either case.

        What the hell? More block rate for PLD?! Don't get me wrong, I love it, but...more more block rate, in conjunction with damage reflection? This is bordering on madness!

        Also, the MNK job ability is...interesting...sounds like an HNM kinda thing? Reduce the amount of TP given to the mob, maximize damage and TP per individual hit?

          Savagery: Trait ~ 50% tp bonus for warrior / 25% tp bonus for party

          Notes: Warrior's charge now stacks with war cry, tomahawk is even sexier on Jailer of Fort, Savagery is just amazing with WC charging.

                The longer durations of higher level Bio III and Dia III will make them more MP efficient, too.

                And imagine the effectiveness of Lv5 Paralyze II and Slow II...

                More frequent Chivalry and Devotion, longer lasting Angon, Feint and Tomahawk, stronger AM2s...

                I wonder if costs will go 3/4/5/6/7, or 3/4/5/5/5? I'd hope for the latter but wouldn't bet on it.


                The job specific stuff looks cool, too. Hopefully the reflected shield-block damage will also give hate, but even if it doesn't it's still damage. (If it is applied before Sentinel, you could wind up reflecting more damage than you take, at least for 30 seconds... fun vs. Hundred Fists using NMs.)

                I hope the recast on the BRD ability is short enough that it can be used on at least one song as fast as it needs recasting so that you can keep one targeted song on all the time; ballad for PLD, DRK or BLU is one obvious application, but now you can give NINs march/mambo while other melees have march/minuet, too. In fact, if the new JA had a 30 sec recast, there'd probably be some parties where you'd want to use it that often.

                  Doh, nevermind. This update is kind of awesome but the mnk ability does sound odd.

                    I just like the bard thing. I mean it's hard to deal with the AoEness sometimes and having to drag off specific party members to cast a certain song on them is kinda hard...

                        Damn it, even more excuses to have to merit on my RDM. I already know I need to merit more, now you're going to make it so that I'm even more lazy than before! GRR.

                              Ziero: I never considered Phalanx part of that set, but I can't remember why. I think it had something to do with cast time or MP usage or something.
