    WHY?

It's been asked countless times in this thread. I have absolutely no reasons to toss you a cure, except out of some misguided magnanimity or sense of pity.

I earn less XP and expose myself to greater risk when I cast a Cure spell on any other player in Campaign. That's just the way the ball bounces. Don't like it? Tough.

Having you magically stay alive longer doesn't benefit me in the slightest. I get the same XP/AN reward whether you live or die - unless I cast a healing spell on you and you die, in which case I'm going to be next on the menu.

Yes, I know you think WHM's should be out there curing everyone. You know what? Back when the game first released I had people who swore up and down that I had an obligation to get off of my chocobo and Raise them when I passed by, or Teleport them for free.

They were just as wrong as you are now.

      ........wow

I am glad not all mages think like you

if you dont want to heal people, why are you play a healing class?

I can understand not getting off you Chocobo, or teleing for free, that understandable and the people that think you need to are stupid.

but, to sit there and say "I should not have to cure you"

this statement is true atleast in things like besieged and campaign BUT, then tell me, why are you playing WHM?

as DRG/SCH and DNC/NIN I can hold my own, but to know I have a backup if things get nasty, is nice.

Kailea, you have to understand, no matter how many times someone reads something, if it's completely the reverse of what you intend to say, and that inverse matches what you have been saying, that's what people are going to think you said.

What the hell? If you are admitting the statement is true in Campaign then what the heck's the problem? Why are you even assuming Icemage doesn't play like any other intelligent WHM outside of Campaign? There's nothing in his post to imply that. And even if there was, what's it to you? It's outside the scope of this thread's discussion, because the thread is about Campaign.

Kailea, read ANY one of Icemage's posts in the Red Mage forum. The only mages that "don't think like him" would be more on the lines of BurningPanther and myself. He is, under normal conditions, about as Pink Mage as you can get!

And, seriously, even us "lolRDMmelee" advocates scorn upon the act of never healing anybody ever. But if you want to make it practical to never die in Campaign, you essentially have three options: invite a healer for the purpose of keeping you alive, come with your own healing capabilities, or biting the proverbial bullet. In addition to the Pixies that are already there, these new Medics are there not only to lighten the load of healing hundreds of melees for pitiful EXP, but also allow that last option to become more viable.

it spun off the mages bitching, and the this and that BS, I gave my opinion, and once again Feba twisted it, and this BS started.

Do you even understand what the mages were complaining about? Because it doesn't seem like you do.

Please explain to me how saying that a WHM's job is healing/buff and telling people to do their jobs in campaign is anything but saying that you think WHM should be healing/buffing in campaign, regardless of whether or not it benefits them.

for one I never said they should do it or else, or anything like that

but they can melee, and get that EXP along with throwing out some cures and buffs, and still be "safe"

I play WHM quite adequately, please and thank you - and probably better than 99.9% of the people you associate with.

But what I do as a WHM in Dynamis, Besieged, Limbus, BCNM, or any other activity doesn't impact what makes sense in Campaign, where, as has been pointed out to you many times in this thread, your attempts to shoehorn WHMs into the backline healer role makes zero sense. I'm not in Campaign to get awesome loot drops. I'm not in Campaign to help friends. I'm not in Campaign because I have nothing better to do with my time.

I'm there because I want to pick up XP on a job, and maybe work on getting some extra allied notes/rankups.

Curing other people directly hinders BOTH of those goals.

I'm sorry that you think that WHMs should be all-healer-all-the-time, but until you face the reality that the game mechanics don't support your view, this conversation isn't going anywhere.

I can understand not getting off you Chocobo, or teleing for free, that understandable and the people that think you need to are stupid.

but, to sit there and say "I should not have to cure you"

If you're in my party/alliance and we're doing something with a common goal (HNM, BCNM, Limbus, etc.) where we share in the rewards or it benefits a specific group (linkshell), then I'm more than happy to play happy healer. In fact, I'm more happy to do so than most players.

But we're talking about Campaign here. Not merits. Not XP parties. Not HNMs. Not BCNMs.

In THIS specific instance, there is no reason for any spellcaster to cast a healing spell on anything but an NPC, except out of pity or friendship. The NPCs are tougher, hit just as hard as most melees, don't have the issue of overcuring, and most importantly, healing them isn't going to make an enemy beeline for the caster.
