On the other hand, if someone thinks, “I want to attack with a weapon and deal lots of damage,” a plethora of jobs comes to mind such as warrior, monk, and thief.
      This.

Also, Jefe, would you say my damage is 1337?

My lowest mule job level was 7 even before Mog Bonanza was announced (though I don't remember quite when I got Moh past MNK4, but I think I was farming Rabbit Hides at the time...)

Highest mule job level is 10, but then I have three 'main' characters, even though the third gets little enough attention to have yet to unlock her intended main job (DRG).

So they're still claiming to have 500k players? A static playerbase over three years, that's some achievement...

How is someone going to point out something that doesn't exist? The vast majority of recipes from level 40 to 50 in GS require either Gold or Mythril. And the ones that don't require other materials which are still more expensive than brass and copper ingots.

I consider 1 to 40 on GS to require an acceptable cost, though I would require more than just brass and copper. 40 to 50 could be done "cheaply", but only if the market on gold ingots was in the right condition. But using just copper ingots, brass ingots, and nothing else that was expensive than those two ingredients? Total pipe dream.

Well then why did SE put it right there in the Census on craft skills? It has to be legit since they obtained this data from people playing the game so wtf...

I am starting to wager that a large chunk of those are secondary accounts used to PL and mule 24/7. Heck I know one guy whos using 5 seperate accounts now lol.

I think they're just trying to say that people are producing more mythril ingots to bridge up to the gold dust recipe. Gold dust caps at 47 if the wiki is correct and uses one brass and one copper ingot.

Because the intern that was assigned with the task of cobbling this report together didn't know any better?

My guess is it's another situation where the translation was botched. I think that the reference to taking Goldsmithing to 50 on Brass and Copper refers to those being the ingredients for Gold Dust. At the moment, Vellum seems to be the only known recipe that uses Gold Dust, but unless this is another translation issue it sounds like it's strongly implied that there's another recipe that uses Gold Dust. However, the explanation that Mythril Ore, Copper Ingot, and Brass Ingot are key raw ingredients used in a progression from 40-50 also makes a certain amount of sense. I am unfortunately nowhere near fluent enough to look over the Japanese version for comparison (3 semesters doesn't go that far)...
