  • Preview of Adjustments for June Version Update (Part 1) (05/13/2008)

Comfortable, fuss-free adventuring for all players is one of our biggest priorities. That is why for the next version update, we will be introducing some changes intended to make Vana'dielian living that much more convenient. For this Topics, we will take a look at changes to synthesis, armor storage, and furnishings.

    Synthesis
Our fans often describe HQ item synthesis as a fulfilling yet occasionally frustrating process. Taking such voices to heart, following lengthy deliberation, the developers have decided to add new synthesis enhancement items as the reward for guild contract quests. While these items do not allow the creation of HQ items at free will, you will receive an overall success rate bonus for synthesis.

The positive effects of these items are expected to span beyond merely improving your success rate in synthesis. The raising of synthesis skills should become that much more enjoyable an experience, and certain items should become more affordable than before.

These synthesis enhancement items are a must-have for masters and apprentices alike!

    Armor Storage
The release of the Wings of the Goddess expansion saw the addition of several new sets of armor. To accommodate this increase, the following armor sets will become storable by talking to specific NPCs:

    Pahluwan / Yigit / Amir

    Furnishings
Since it became possible to invite friends over to your Mog House, we've been seeing more and more adventurers taking an active interest in their furnishings in a friendly contest of affluence with neighbors. Amidst this recent trend, it has come to our attention that the function of some furnishings was not proportional to cost, resulting in them being largely ignored by players.

To rectify this issue, and ultimately improve the living standard for adventurers, a number of furnishings will receive adjustments to attributes such as storage capacity and effects. Detailed information on these changes will be announced upon the release of the next version update.

      Moar desynth furniture, plz.

Although, you know, if they want players to stop ignoring furniture, the biggest thing they can do is make storage accessible from every mog house/nomad moogle.

And how about some crafting items that let you avoid HQ when you don't want it? Or just let us use HQ ingredients in place of NQ (preferably for a better chance at HQ on the final product).

HQ is about the only profit left in some crafts thanks to RMT, and now it seems SE wants to rip into that as well. Maybe I'll skip going into crafting after all.

          Pahluwan, Yigit, Amir armor storable...

When are you going to let us store simple JSE?! I can live without storing HQ. Really, I can. But my Sha'ir set isn't exactly inventory-friendly, and it's not something I want to sell, either... I do like looking good on those times I actually use Bard.

So apparently, people have spotted that the English translation for the synthesis thing is badly done. According to the Japanese, French and German versions of the update note, this new item eliminates the chance of HQing an item in exchange for higher success rate. I have to say, more many synths, I like that better.

Yeah I am not so sure that creating the higher probability of HQ is the answer since that would most likely destroy the main revenue producing task that people can do. At the same time I can't say that I won't gladly welcome some HQ armor at cheaper prices as a result.

I just hope it's not such a drastic increase that the profit is completely removed, because then aside from signing your own and your friends armor/items there would be no true benefit to having a HL craft.

I think that some things just need to be left as they are even if they are frustrating because there is a line that divides Too Easy and Too Hard that crafting dances on. Otherwise known as Too Cheap / Too Expensive lol. Some things could use to be cheaper/easier to make, but generalizing it might actually be worse than them doing nothing at all.

I don't have a better solution, because I'm not sure there is one, but I don't think this is a good one.

Edit: Well if it is just something that decreases rate of failure I am all for that. I am sure it will still have an effect on price etc, but being a crafter I can honestly say I would welcome the decreased failure rate on a few synths in exchange for no/lower HQ chance.

There are a lot of items you can skill on that don't benefit from HQ. This would definitely help in those areas.

Though as I am still trying to get WW past the 73.6 point, not really sure what it will do for me.

As for the rest, eh, not that impressed.

Awesome. I've always noticed there are cool looking items to use but no one ever made them because no one cared about furniture. Maybe this will change that...

I still like to wear my full Sha'ir when I'm helping out lower level people, which is pretty much the only reason I hop on Bard for these days. Like, for example, I helped someone get from rank 3 to rank 5.. I hop on Bard so we could get around quicker. I'd just like to be able to store the armor every other day is all, and muling it is.. painful when I get a spontaneous urge to help out people like that. I'd even be willing to pay a good bit more to store it than AFs... 5k per set, as opposed to 1k for AF maybe?
