Why? There's nothing wrong with your 2 hour. Putting the effects of your current 2 hour on a 5 min timer is above and beyond what any other job has right now. No.

Kama (sickle) is a farming tool for cutting grass. (An inefficient tool, at that.) Probably makes a lousy weapon except for the element of surprise at being attacked by a raggedy farmer.

Kusari-gama may be better described as chain-hammer attached to the handle of a sickle (kama). The main attraction of it probably isn't binding legs; a swing chain hammer is very difficult to block, and can do heavy damage to unarmored or lightly armored opponents. Should it get tangled up with opponent's weapon, the sickle end of kusari-gama can be used for ... wet work.

I'm guessing it's more a anti-katana weapon used for dueling or carried by ninja-ish types as a semi-concealed weapon. On a normal battle field, a kusari-gama user would be an "easy prey" for the most common samurai weapon--spear.

My linkshell was talking about the update when I mentioned it, and they were all "-.-" and "I WANT MY JOB TO GET SOMETHING" and many request to add completely new stuff to the game. Personally I never complain because I don't know the ins and outs of how this game was made, therefore I don't complain unless I know exactly why something isn't being done.

The only one getting worked up here is you.

I see no need for such an expansion, whether it be an expansion of existing categories or an entirely new one.

Simply put: You're asking for shinies.

I prefer SE finish rebalancing the jobs and make some refinements to existing merit categories before they start handing out shinies for meripo. I'd think most people would like fewer reasons to merit instead of more of them.

I really can't contribute to this Japanese weapon discussion. My knowledge of them extends to TMNT and no further. I am not upset about this.

It's weird. I am always interested in what a new update holds, but I'm never like "Oh man, how come they never give me anything I want?" or "Woo hoo, they finally gave me my hearts desire. Suck it [Job X]!" Maybe I should be less neutral about it all from here on out. You guys look like you're having fun.

I never really understood the "they never come out with what I want/Our job got screwed again" people, especially these days where practically every job is getting a turn on updates. I pretty much always end up enjoying the updates. People are mostly just impatient.

I think its better to be patient and quiet than be the Allakazhan Dragoon about such matters.

You know, when my job is one of those "impractical" ones that haven't seen a personal update in, oh, I dunno, four-and-a-half flipping years, you can see why some of us would be just a tad upset.

                Just sayin'.

Well, when your job needs an update, it'll get one. Until then, you really have nothing to complain about.

Mal, YM wasn't talking about SMN. So really it has no place here.

Personally, I'd love a moratorium on YM talking about what RDM needs when his RDM is only 30, and he has yet to scratch the surface of its actual potential. And I'd like the same moratorium to be placed on Malacite who doesn't even play SMN. In both cases it's just the same damn argument over and over again, and it only serves to derail every thread it pops up in. I'm tired of seeing it everywhere. If you want to bitch about what those jobs "need" (serious emphasis on the quotes there) then keep it to one thread only. Please. I mean for crying out loud.

Of course, the updates they keep complaining about are more likely to happen than them stopping.

I have actually, on my other character. Had Carby mitts too. Still don't entirely care for the way it's played.

this is nothing but sheer flame bait, and I'm not going to start any arguments over what job "needs" what. At least nothing that's already been debated to death (hence I choose to refrain from ranting over my dislike of the way SE has handled SMN)

I'm choosing to continue my belief that SE will one day wake up and realise they gotta do some drastic with that job. Until then I'll focus on the more plausible/likely updates that are hopefully coming this time around such as the new songs and ability for BRD to single target songs.

Being able to single target Ballad onto a PLD after buffing the melee would be a bloody god send for the job. Might actually make playing it tolerable again. The new songs have me rather curious though.
Will they just be higher tiers of songs we already have? (I hope not...) or entirely new buffs?

EDIT: Maybe I'll finally get to purchase that shiny new Hauberk our generals use with my AN.

Single Target PLD Ballad isn't hard, it just requires your PT to know how to fucking position themselves.

Updates piss me off. The month before it happens, people on forums bitch about what their job "needs" or what it "deserves." Then after the update, people bitch and argue even more about their job not getting its update again. Everybody wants wants wants, and then bitches bitches bitches like little kids when it doesn't happen. I'm surprised SE even bothers to try and fix any issue anymore because it doesn't really do anything besides make more people bitch even more when the "issues" with their jobs aren't fixed.

If it's not broken, don't fix it. And even if it is broken, stopping crying like fucking 5yr olds. Jesus.

YM complaining that RDM hasn't had an update in four years is also basically flamebait. It's not even a good argument. Updates aren't like turns. It's not as though everyone is entitled to one. The jobs that need them get them, and the ones that don't should be happy, because hey! They are already pretty awesome.

RDM? Already pretty damn awesome. Just because it isn't the job a small subset of the community wants it to be doesn't mean that it has any sort of fundamental problems, or that it is somehow more deserving of an update than the jobs that really do need them. And I'd definitely place SMN in line ahead of RDM for updates, if there were indeed a line, which there isn't.
