FFXI is supposed to be heavily based on FF1-3, and in FF1 BLM actually had a few party buffs (Steel and Temper)
    Also, Haste and Slow. =/

Haste = White Mage, Slow = Black Mage.

      I think. It's been a while since I played my FF1 remake.

Even in the remakes Haste and Slow are black magic, and usable by BM, BW, RM, RW, and NIN.

According to my NES FF1 manual, BLM gets both.

In FF3 NES, Haste was White Magic and there was no Slow.

In FF4, Haste and Slow were both white magic, but Stop was black magic. -- Pteryx

I'm starting to wonder if there is even going to be any job changes in this update.

There will be. SE is just being secretive about it.

SE said at fanfest that new Blue Magic and Phantom Rolls would be add durin first update of the year, so at the very least, we should be seeing those, but I'm hoping for some tweaks to SCH as well as those teleportation spells for WHM and BLM. BRD single-target conversion ability would be nice too.

RDMs don't raise people enough in Campaign, so no updates for them yet

                  QFT.

Of all the planned updates the ones I'd like to see most are SMN (quit teasing us already SE) and that skillchain resist rate adjustment. Oh yeah and single target songs will rock. Refreshing PLD will no longer be a painstaking nightmare. (or giving RNG Minuet for that matter)
