Dec. 19, 2007 03:00 [PST] From: FINAL FANTASY XI

    Accounts Banned (Dec. 19)

We would like to report the termination today of multiple accounts held by players involved in the usage of third-party tools or cheats, or engaged in RMT (Real Money Trading) activities.

Based on the results of our investigation, around 12,460 PlayOnline accounts were terminated while around 1,470 accounts were temporarily suspended.
Additionally, we have increased the number of mass bannings against certain PlayOnline violations in order to prevent illegal acts.

Details of the violations are as follows:

    - Usage of tools that allow enhanced character movement.
    November 16, Approx. 690 cases
    November 20, Approx. 350 cases
    December 3, Approx. 130 cases
    December 5, Approx. 60 cases
    December 7, Approx. 80 cases
    December 10, Approx. 110 cases
    December 17, Approx. 330 cases

    - Usage of tools that circumvent game mechanics with respect to the timing of ability use, etc. in certain areas or at points where Notorious Monsters appear.
    December 19, Approx. 70 cases

    - Using cheats to automatically repeat a particular action.
    November 19, Approx. 870 cases
    November 21, Approx. 840 cases
    November 28, Approx. 360 cases
    December 5, Approx. 850 cases
    December 13, Approx. 680 cases

    - Gil and item exchange for real world money.
    November 15, Approx. 20 cases
    November 28, Approx. 10 cases
    December 3, Approx. 110 cases
    December 13, Approx. 70 cases
    December 19, Approx. 530 cases

    - Instances of areas or monster monopolization.
    November 16, Approx. 140 cases
    November 21, Approx. 280 cases
    November 29, Approx. 50 cases
    December 6, Approx. 260 cases
    December 13, Approx. 140 cases

    - Usage of synthesis and auction houses for RMT activities.
    November 15, Approx. 970 cases
    November 16, Approx. 230 cases
    November 19, Approx. 1,730 cases
    November 28, Approx. 940 cases
    December 3, Approx. 740 cases
    December 10, Approx. 1,860 cases

    - Accounts from people that were previously confirmed to have RMT connections, or that had violated the user agreements but re-subscribed to PlayOnline.
    December 7, Approx. 130 cases
    December 17, Approx. 160 cases
    December 19, Approx. 140 cases

The termination of these accounts has led to the removal of approximately 3.7 billion gil from circulation.

We would like to remind players that as well as adversely affecting game balance, the use of third-party tools or cheats can also have consequences that are not immediately obvious, such as introducing damaging viruses, and comprising the security of private account details. Usage of third-party tools will not be tolerated within FINAL FANTASY XI, and we will continue to severely penalize any players found to be in violation of the PlayOnline Member Agreement.

As we continue to ensure a fun and balanced environment for FINAL FANTASY XI, we hope that our players enjoy the game as it was intended and take care to avoid involvement in activities that violate the PlayOnline Member Agreement.

Thank you for your continued cooperation and understanding.

Nice to see them still at it and getting results.

I wonder if they banned those 4 fish bots I reported?

It's funny that terminating these accounts removes billions of gil from circulation while most players struggle to accumulate as little as 1 million gil these days. That really shows you how severe an impact RMT has had on the economy.

Not really, 3.7 billion sounds like a lot but they banned over 12,000 to remove it which is about 300k gil per banned character.

300k isn't that hard to amass, and is probably easer when you have several people working 24/7 to make it.

I don't know what to think of STFU anymore. Sometimes they can be great and sometimes they can just go to the dumbest extremes.

The only problem I see with this is the harder the STFU hits them the more likely it is they will turn to more extreme actions like site hacking for account stealing and others.

But I'm glad they are getting banned on a regular basis, and since they have to buy the game again every single time SE should be making some money out of them.

Also they have to get a new credit card number...or else they're just going to get banned again...maybe even get a new name...I'm pretty sure they don't let repeat offenders back in the game...i wouldn't let them come back...but they always find a way...

Wow thats allot of accounts banned. Though I think its time that the STFU look at the weird things the RMT do to lvl up.20 blm tarus following 1Galka Pld every time there is a ban is very funny.

To be honest I am shocked how low all the items dropped. Then again S.E implimenting similar items, easier ways to aquire the drops has also helped. Not to mention the number of crafters on the servers. Its no wonder the S.H is 100k now.

Wait another week or so, and SE will announce January's round of bans. That wouldn't even require necrobumping in order to post fluff.
