Under the Racism laws in the Uk treating someone different because of their cultural background is deemed racism.

1) He was talking about a region of the world, not what cultures they have in that region.
2) This isn't the UK. This is a world SE created.

There is no European culture. There are French, Germans, Swedes, Britons, Irishmen, Scots, Danes, Spaniards, and several others that just happen to live on a contenant called Europe (Eurasia if you want to get very technical). French culture is not German, Spanish culture is not Italian, there is no one European culture.

No one calls Canadians or Mexicans Americans, but by your usage they would have to.
Not that any of it matters since what Feba said is not racist unless you also want to put your head as far up your ass as many idiots do.

Apart from the time that being racist towards 'Europe' is silly, a few things Jarre:

Being a minority does not make you a race.

Even if it did, "classing us as a minority because of where we live" makes no fucking sense. You can not be a minority because of where you live, you're a minority because you are the smaller group.

And the most obvious part, PLAYING FFXI AT A CERTAIN TIME DOES NOT MAKE YOU A RACE. It makes you part of a group that plays FFXI at a certain time. If you want to get pissy because you're in the smallest group of people that play FFXI at a certain time, go get some common sense and try again later.

Fact remains, if maintenance hit the NA's for three weeks straight causing hours of lost primetime gaming you'd all be full of righteous indignation and threats to cancel interspersed with bullshit conspiracy theories about moving HNMs on to JP time.

I wouldn't. Others might, but I wouldn't. The game has to get fixed some time, and it's going to affect someone.

I try to save my righteous indignation for something worth it. You know, something other than a game.

It's not cultural discrimination... it's business. They schedule the maintenances when they will piss off their smallest number of customers. JP primetime > NA primetime > EU primetime. There are less european players so they can justify it in a business perspective. It's a simple concept.

Regardless, the statement about more NA players is true, especially this time of year. A large number of schools in the US are on winter break and a lot of companies have reduced hours, so there are more NA players on right about now then any other time of the year save for summer. However, there are still less players on now then most any other time of day. Add that into the fact that POL offices are open in the US during that time and it makes sense that now is when everything is run.

So yes, it's an inconvenience but it's an inconvenience for everyone. Criticizing and bemoaning SE for one of the few logical business choices they've made is a bit short sighted.
