Don't be a patronising monkey, that has zero to do with my initial comment. Fact remains, if maintenance hit the NA's for three weeks straight causing hours of lost primetime gaming you'd all be full of righteous indignation and threats to cancel interspersed with bullshit conspiracy theories about moving HNMs on to JP time. I've seen it before over the years I've played FFXI and read these, and other, forums. Although, when it hits someone else you roll out your old lines like, "Just chill guys, go wash your car. It has to hit someone's time, it's only a game dude!"

*edit* Just like to add I don't have an issue with S-E, I understand and accept the maintenance times they chose due to the lack of regionalised servers. My anger and frustration is really just down to being told to suck it up by people who'd be the first in line wailing their tits off when the maintenance went one second in to their gaming window. That, and the occasional clown who still thinks it's funny to do the, "L0lz, it's a EuroZ consp1racy!11?!" Oh, and at myself for allowing myself to be trolled by the aforementioned.

It's always been about the numbers. There are a lot of players that play during the day in the U.S. probably the same amount of people that login from EU. It fucks with EVERYONE.

My biggest problem with this is that people think that SE is doing it to spite you guys.

And the whole bit about SE wants to keep hnm on JP time is funny. I'm sure you know how hnm work so I find it funny how you associate some lame threads on KI and BG to all of the NA player base. Threads of which are probably a couple years old at that since many hnm ls kill hnm at ANY hour of the day now.

So really, chill out. have a spot of tea or what have you. I'll go surf and hang loose dude. YEA!

Yes, because NA primetime has a much higher amount of the population than EU primetime. There's no point in putting maintenance in NA prime at all, let alone three weeks in a row.

EU, however, has no right to be upset, as they are quite clearly the minority.

Yes, because NA primetime has a much higher amount of the population than EU primetime. There's no point in putting maintenance in NA prime at all, let alone three weeks in a row.

Not if my primetime was CLEARLY in the minority slot. And you know what? I have very odd sleep patterns. My playtime has been interrupted by maintenance plenty. Many of which were in EU prime. It's not worth getting upset over, even the worst addict can find something else to do.

It has happened to me. Many times. How about you grow up and find something else to do one night a week besides play FFXI? There's tons of other MMOs out there you could play-- many of them absolutely free.

Because I suffered plenty of BS with server downtime myself. I've lost major progress due to server rollbacks-- I had an entire LS event completely negated by a problem on SE's end, and then I lost exp and gil repeating it on my own time. I've woken up, had servers randomly taken down for maintenance, and had a day of playtime basically taken from me. I've seen JP get a huge advantage over the NA crowd because SE left their expansion servers turned on before the expansion got anywhere near NA stores.

And you know what? It's not that bad. Grow up and find something else to entertain yourself with.

And get off my lawn.

I actually have to agree with Feba. I distinctly remember updates being in NA prime time before EU came ofiicially came on board. And I remember every major update had a day or two before you could log in due to heavy traffic.

It is one of those things in life that you have to live with. GO Christmas shopping, play a board game (they do still exist), invite some friends over for beer and chips. Server updates are not the end of the world.

And to finalize it, SE has their updates down pretty well. They don't take nearly as long as they used to.

Heres the meaning of minority...

The smaller in number of two groups forming a whole.
A group or party having fewer than a controlling number of votes.
A racial, religious, political, national, or other group thought to be different from the larger group of which it is part.
A group having little power or representation relative to other groups within a society.

By classing us as a minority because of where we live and then saying we have NO RIGHT to complain because we are a minority is clear racism. The way you wrote it implies that because we are european we have no right to complain that we are in your eyes being chosen because of that. That is clear racism because you are basically saying that we euopeans don't deserve any rights to complain etc.

By denying the right of someone because of where they are or who they are is racism and in the Uk you could be arrested for that.

Feba its not the fact it happens to us all the time, its the fact that people who it doesn't happen to turn into little kids and do the usual ha ha that gets up our noses when we know they would be just as pissed in our positions. I don't have much time to commit to FFXI due to me working for a living, being a carer and also having a life, but when i do have a chance to play to enjoy the game and relax its demeaning to find that i can't because they are updating something. Its bad enough having to wait or try and plan something else or an event around the maintenance times but to have people gloating because its not happening to them is extreemly anoying.

whether you agree or not does not matter to me, the fact is in many of your posts you have been that kid going ha ha making you just as bad as the others. if it happened to you when the game first came out then you know how we feel, most people in that situation would just not say anything.

What Feba is saying is that it's not racism because "European," while it is a minority in this case, is not a race. Just like "left-handed" is a minority, but not a race, so when I say "Southpaws are all retarded and worthless," I'm being a bigot and a dick, but not a racist.

It's a fairly pointless semantic nitpick, since you can just switch "racism" and "bigotry" and then continue arguing about something slightly more substantial than what's in the dictionary, but he is technically correct about that particular point.

It's also a really easy way to partially derail a "discussion" and earn five whole "I'm right on an internet forum" points without addressing the actual issue being "discussed."

Just like "making a post explaining all that" and "using quotation marks way too much."

By classing us as european you are classing us a culture. By then saying we have no right to do something is basically in a court of law constraining the person or in this case the culture against their will. Under the Racism laws in the Uk treating someone different becasuse of their cultural background is deemed racism.

This is about how his post was worded no matter whether he meant it or not, that is how it reads. You cannot generalise a culture and then say they have no rights.
