If their was a update, then why did it not ask to update? I am confused...but I am glad some stuff got fixed!

Because nothing was changed to the game client, just to the information and data stored on the servers.

If the update requires a change to the client files, the announcement will include "the client software will also be updated at this time" or words to that effect. Most of the changes in an update generally occur server-side.
