Look at the motivations of the characters involved in FFXII. Pretty much everyone in the party is motivated by greed or revenge, whereas the enemies are fighting for peace and unity. I know there are some flaws in my statements, but it's kindah ard to remember (and explain) after a year or so. You can definitely google this and find plenty of better explanations, but either way you are definitely playing as the bad guys in FF12.
