    I'm currently sitting at 4:38:47...I wish I could say screw it, but I got a static exp party tomorrow as soon as I get home from work and don't trust my internet to not boot me as soon as I walk out the door tomorrow A.M.

    Oh well, at least I can READ about the uber updates this time, my internet was royally pissed in the last big update and couldn't hold it together when I tried to surf at the same time...

        Meh, most of the time the mob dies to fast to be worth the effort.
        If it was like voke or SA in timers, that'll really be a bonus to us. plus >.> I wanted to spam it tonight so i can get HF or EES from the nms instead of a random dd or the pld XD

          I downloaded the update during the maintenance period. It was about 1pm EST for me and it took less than 20 mins from start of checking to end of installing. Bummer for you though.

          Ha. I just started the update on my laptop and it's sitting at 3% with almost 9 hours to go. Shizl.

                  I'm curious about the WS changes too... did they lower the proc rates or change the effects of the 3 WS altogether? How good is Velocity Shot o. O ?WHERE THE HELL IS MY MYSTIC KNIGHT SE?! (Okay that last one isn't legit but still ><)


                  Kinda miffed about SCH now. Their 2 best stratagems aren't usable when subbed, thus eliminating most of it's use as a sub for RDM. And I was really looking forward to Hastega and Refreshga >_>

                  Well, at least SCH can still sub RDM and use it to grant everyone Phalanx or an enspell! The geomancer spells are neat too.



                  Finally, WOW @ the .dats! Finally, Santa Boots!!! Now we just need gloves and pants and we'll have a full set ^^ nice touch with the Sneak too. I'll bet the mittens will come next year and have Invis (after all, Santa is not to be neither seen nor heard) with the body having a gift enchantment? Or maybe they'll give us a sack of toys for the ammo slot one year XD

                  Woot for Electrum Bullet and the other new ammunitions. We needed more midrange ammo! ^^b Now if we just had some end game bolts to replace darksteel...


                  @_ @ Update is gonna take all freaking night. Back to Lucky Star and DMC with me!

                    Quick question about DX9 update upcoming...is this supposed to make the game look any better, or is it just for stability/gameplay reasons?

                    Sorry if slightly off topic, just been reading about the DX9 update in other threads and don't know what I should expect...

                        Couldn't SE just have released this in parts....it just seems alot of info to be downloaded and when there could be 100k+ people trying to download the same thing...maybe if i start it in the morning it'll be done that afternoon.

                            Not all the changes they listed were for this update, remember. Some were specified for this update, some for a January update, and some were "we're thinking about doing this". Generally, the more specific they were, the sooner it'll happen and the more likely it'll be to happen.

                            For the RDM frontline spell idea... well, they were awfully vague. I think they haven't thought the whole idea out too much, to be honest. If they had thought about it, they would've realized that what RDM really needs to be free to melee in a party situation isn't spells (though they'd help), but job traits on the order of Magic Accuracy Bonus and the ability to swing a weapon in mid-cast; otherwise, meleeing would come at the expense of doing their job. -- Pteryx

                              Although, as Richie pointed out in another thread, you don't really need staves to land enfeebles on a merit mob when you have A+ skill, at least +22 skill gear (that's just af body and enf torque; earring, af2 hat, nashira pants, sea cape etc. go on top of that) and enf merits too. At least with our current crop of pansy-ass merit mobs. (To say nothing of colibri, which you don't really want to enfeeble all that much even if you *can* land the spells.)

                              Once you take out the staves, all it takes is a bit of gear swapping in non-tp-resetting slots and you can cast your spells, then melee for a few seconds, then repeat. It's not like there's any gear you can swap in for haste and refresh that will actually matter (well, maybe the 2 fast cast pieces. But +enhancing magic won't help them at all, nor will any basic stat).

                              The most interesting possibility IMO is whether you will be able to get enough benefit out of your TP with /DNC that it outweighs +10% cure potency from light staff. Currently there isn't much to *do* with your tp - 200 damage savage blades anyone? - so there isn't much reason to care that you're giving it up. But if you can turn your TP into extra cures, debuffs (there is no dancing skill, so /DNC might not have that much trouble sticking the sambas they have) etc...

                                If there's no skill, do you think it might be Charm-based like BST and BRD? I could certainly see BST/DNC supplanting BST/WHM to an extent if that were the case...
